I think you’re significantly underestimating the value of the win in terms of shutting up the noise around our recent run of form.
Justin, the "noise " is well justified. It's also a pathology...
It is and it isn’t.

If you weren’t at the wins in Limerick and Galway, then I can just about see how a last kick loss on NYD plus a few close defeats in tough away games can seem like a full blown crisis, if you’re prone to such hyperbole.

Winning a home game that we’d normally expect to win was important, however.
Justin, I've been at many a choke since the start of the Pro Era, so I'm not some blow in Giants fan. First game Vs All Blacks 1978. This is a chronic condition within UR not just this season but from start of Pro rugby bar a couple of flukes. Even with RP, Muller Payne, Ferris etc we still blew our wheels off under pressure.
That's why I said Pathology
Me too CI!

A gloomy autumn afternoon as I recall.
It was Merv. Ernie Davis gave Model boys the afternoon off to get the bus up to Ravers. Always murky in those days.

Probably the Coal fires lol or "slack"- like London smog lol. Grim times and we were never in it tbf. The Australia 84 match was brilliant though- pishing down but Chippers monstrous winning penalty in the deluge.
Ah the long gone days of touring teams. Now just for paying off Munsters debt....when was Ulster's last proper tier 1 touring team game? Was it a beer delerium or did we play SA A around the mid 90s?

I see the under 20's home matches against England and France have also been awarded to Munster. One way traffic at IRFU as usual.

Very decent of him. I had to mitch off. It was my 11+ that day, so probably should have gone in and sat the paper, but it was the All Blacks. Anyway me ma told them I had a dentist appointment, so I think I got away with it.

Ernie was sound tbf. Many a Model boy would've taken a wrong turn but for Ernie and a cadre of teachers at the Model at that time whom gave a shyte. Height of the troubles don't forget.
Many ended up at CI, from colts onwards.

The 89 AB match has the infamous big biff up, where Willie got a black eye from Shelford was it? Gatland made a rare start. Inga Tuigamala was outstanding. Great game & crowd but we never looked like scoring a try.

I had a 9 month old sick child in the house.

I phoned the doctor the day after that game and David Irwin turned up at the door (remember house calls?) with a shiner and a few other facial abrasions.

Interesting. Seems to be saying that the 'mob' was just right to be going for Ashton's blood.

Old Portora man, was Ernie, we’re all sound! Was at the ‘78 AB game also, first year at Queens, helicopters overhead, a dank dark oul day, remember Billy Bush running out past us at the start, different level size, we weren’t going to win, but it was all about the occasion.

A question relating to Leinster at Aviva. I've only ever watched Ulster play at the old Landsdowne in 99 and 02 I think, so just wondering is there a particular part of the stadium to aim for once the ticket links are sent out. Thanks

It's always a stitch up, Leinster branch keep away fans apart, so highly unlikely that this will be any different (and tbf being seeded 1st gives them the right), however I think is a shame as it would only add to the occasion to be able to sit together.
