Re: pre-season friendlies
Treviso score a try after Ulster leave the blind side open on a ruck 5 meters out from touch. Couple of missed cover tackles (both difficult), converted. 19-15.

Both props are on off the bench now and we've been getting absolutely minced in the scrum since. Curtis also off after a knock, limping slightly, again hopefully nothing serious.

Re: pre-season friendlies
Seeing how much we were struggling in the scrum, the Treviso tight head decided to help us out by getting himself carded. Ulster score a couple of phases after the resulting line-out. Flannery kicks the easy conversion, just (in off the post), 19-22. 70 mins gone.

Ben Griffen is the sun tighthead & Cameron Doak sub loosehead I think.

Correct on both counts, too early to write him off but Griffin's carrying hasn't been great either. He's also just given away a penalty for offside on the 22. Where's Milo when you need him.

Treviso score from a rolling maul after said penalty. Conversion missed, 24-22 with two mins left. Wonder if Lebok has been over giving kicking lessons.

Full time, Treviso win 24-22, very scrapy match in general. Tom Stewart looked good when he came on. Biggest worry fir the season ahead is how the scrum fared with Doak on Griffin on. Hopefully they'll improve, but we need Moore back ASAP.

I no who I blame.
Re: pre-season friendlies
Slogan?
Petrie?
Bryn?
Dan?
Jono Gibbes?
Les Kiss?
Bank of Ireland?
Re: pre-season friendlies
the result is not surprising since the team as selected playing away from home , would never (hopefully ) be sent out in a league match.
Players being selected on the the possibility of benching mostly and blooding a few to the realities of the Pro game
The results mean little in warm up games normally
Next weeks selection will more indicative of a possible side to start the league than this weeks.

Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist

How many were benneton missing? A lot more than us I guess. Worrying times ahead, with both players and coaching staff appearing to settle for a 'just glad to have a pro career' attitude.

The folly of not having a third international quality TH like JTA when it was on a plate. We must've saved money when DVM left- no way Ewers would be on same salaryMightyRearranger wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 7:44 pm Full time, Treviso win 24-22, very scrapy match in general. 16 in the Italian RWC squad I think. Mostly all forwards as well.jean valjean wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 11:33 am How many were benneton missing? A lot more than us I guess. Worrying times ahead, with both players and coaching staff appearing to settle for a 'just glad to have a pro career' attitude.
That’s a horrible result and most of the Ulster tries appear to have come from close in play. So much for Soper telling everyone we’ll be playing this expansive, exciting game of rugby.
Big season for Dan Soper, the attack and backs development has regressed massively since Peel left.
