But we've had a 9 counties yellow one. Orange jersey ( to keep Jim and Dee etc happy) white shorts and green socks ( as tribute to IRFU paymasters) should do it.big mervyn wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 3:02 pmWe've never had an orange shirt.promenader 2 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 2:58 pm'Low lie the fields of Ballynafeigh...'Dave wrote: ↑Sun Mar 19, 2023 11:58 am Time for an NI team?

Did anyone up there enjoy anything of the Six Nations? Thought not.

We also really enjoy our persecution complex. Nothing makes you feel superior more than feeling that the powers that be are agin ya. Tis the Ulster way.

The U20 grand slam game was uncannily similar to the senior game. Eng lead for a bit, Ire got their nose in front and then an Eng player got red carded.

First ever Ireland senior and U20 Grand Slam in the same season.
Wales the only other side to achieve the double slam back in 2005.
Ireland have completed 3 U20 Grand Slams in the past 5 seasons. One of those unfulfilled seasons was abandoned due to Covid after securing a Triple Crown.
Oh how I wish I could ring myself in the early 90s and tell myself this.

Yep, I'm a bit thick, but how did Ireland get 27 points from 5 games?
4 for each of the wins;
4 bonus points for 4 tries in 4 of those games.
Where did the other three points come from?

3 extra for the Grand Slam to ensure that GS team wins the championship -apparently.

Re: 6 Nations 2023
I can't actually come up with a scenario where a GS team would need 3 more points to win the championship unless they had narrow victories and another side won all but one games with bonus points.
Re: 6 Nations 2023
Yes.I really enjoyed the matches. Great credit to Andy Farrell who I think got every selection right. It pains me to say it but I believe Aki fully justified his selection on Saturday. He played very well.

Re: 6 Nations 2023
A team could get to 22 points for 4 BP wins and 2 BPs in the loss (within 7 and 4 trys). That would leave a team with 5 narrow wins only getting to 20 points - hence the need for 3 extra for the grand slam.for dog and ulcer wrote:I can't actually come up with a scenario where a GS team would need 3 more points to win the championship unless they had narrow victories and another side won all but one games with bonus points.

You have to be Irish to justify your selection
