Improved Bar Facilities

Post by bostonteax »

Just picked up my season ticket from Ravenhill. Couldn't help but notice the improvments to the beer tent that are underway. Seems a new crowd have taken over (Laverys?) and they have installed wood panel walls, pictures, brass light wall fittings etc. Really looks the part. Guy also said that several large screen TVs were due top go up on the walls for live match coverage. Only downside (for me anyway), still no Guiness.

Laverys is a bar at Shaftsbury Square. A very good bar imo. They also own the Pavillion on the Ormeau Rd.

Sounds good tho. Hopefully get a glimpse of it soon.

Other downside being that all those fixtures will probably be nicked once the Scousers turn up for the footyball match .......

Laverys do a big tent at the Christmas market, probably bedecking the beer tent with stuff that only gets used in December. Wonder if it'll disappear for a few weeks then?

Is there some temporary uncovered seating at that end? Only for the football or to remainin situ pending the start of the old stand demolotion?

Surely it will have to go so that they can build the end stands first?

Of course, forgot the ends were being built first.

In that case I wonder if its going before the rugby starts or is hanging around for a while. Now we have our planning permission surely we can increase the attendance on HEC and interpro weekends?

Why on earth are they putting in TVs to show the match when it's going on about 50 metres behind them???
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Saw something somewhere which hinted that it's the footy that hired it in for extra seats, doubt it will stay as the cost of keeping it could outweigh the benefit.

I guess for those who go at half time and have to queue for a while.

Might mean people hand around slightly longer as well, so more dosh for the bar.

I don't much care what's on the walls as long as I can get a beer without hanging about. which, it must be said, has never been a problem up at the 'Hill.

What are they selling instead of Guinness? Caffreys, Murphys?

Surely it will have to be a Heineken brand so Murphy's then. Seems a shame that we can't get Harp or Guinness in our own bars.

If memory serves the opposite end is to developed first then the car park end so the stand in the car park could well be there for some time as the beer tent is actual well in front of it and I hardly see the tent being put up in the middle of the car just for the football.

But then they did have a standing area behind the beer tent last season
