Humph made the run, a dummy pass, got through first tackle, offloaded to Bryn in support who went forward a few yards before passing to Trimble who made the score....

Of course Humph was on!
He completely turned the game around!
And within seconds of his arrival, the whole team picked up the tempo of the game!
Don't see how we can do without him for the near future, as Paddy didnt look upto much tonight!
I also thought Dewey was quite exceptional tonight!

In all my years playing and watching rugby I have never seen a player have such an instantly dramatic impact on a match as DH this evening. Big Ollie may have had a good game, but Humph was MOTM nobody had more influence on the match. Leinster had no idea what to do with him.
Paddy had a very very ordinary game and our Pack got bullied too
Dewey was excellent.

Also, listening to Gusher it seems Bryn had a big game. Gusher seemed to have a religious experience when Bryn caught his own garryowen! Then, had to qualify his sentiments re Bryn in his round-up by saying something along the lines of "I'm in no way having an affair with Bryn Cunnigham but..." Good times!

I though Justin Harrison had his best game for a while. But unlike Humps his best position might be from the bench: winding up opposition and messing up their ball when they are tired.

I hope delFava picks up his game, as McCullough will be pushing him hard.

Yea, Bryn's up-and-under was amazin, he put his whole body on the line, just to keep pocession, it was a brillant piece of skill, and we maintained pocession from it as well! Amazing!
Humph was my MOTM by far, completely turned the game on its head when he came on!

For me it all revolved round Humphs first drop-out, he went short instead of long as Paddy had been doing all night.
We won it , gained forward momentum, the whole tempo seemrd to rise and from then on Davie showed his class.

Some might point the finger at Paddy, but the fact is our pack were outclassed in the first half..............when you don't have the ball you can't play.
Stand up for PICU R.V.H.

David Humphreys was truely brilliant tonight. What made his performance even more pleasurable to watch was the banter from some Leinster fans as he came on.

"Ha Ha, imagine bringing a 36 yr old on as your man to turn things around"
"You should play for Ireland, You should play for Ireland, na naaa naa na, na naaa naa na, You should play for Ireland, You should play for Ireland"

By F*** he showed them. He showed everybody. Magnificent.

Humph was outstanding! A word of praise for young McCrea as well, which wing was the 50 odd time capped Irish and Lion international and which was the 20 year old Ulster academy player tonight? If you were new to the game you wouldn't have known!

There were also promising signs that Dewey and Trimble are going to gel well, when they got the ball in the second half they were more than a handful for their illustrious opponents who both played well themselves. Let's hope our season started just after half time tonight!

Not a sparkling first half, but oh how things changed after a certain number 21 came on.

Looks like you got home before me Aaron ... you probably have less problems typing than me as well

Weird game.

The Ulster forwards were Leinster's bitches for the first 40-50 minutes so how can you blame Paddy Wallace for anything when he only touched the ball a few times during this period?

So what happened when Humph came on?

Did it coincide with the Leinster forwards running out of steam?

Or (more worringly) did the Ulster forwards think: "We've got Hump on now so we'd better start playing as we have a chance of winning now"

It is all very worrying - Ulster didn't have the ball in the first half and when they did, they gave it straight back to Leinster.

Humph is not the new messiah - he will be playing for another 6 or 7 months and has always failed to deliver in away games.

I think the kick off was the turning point it let the Ulster forwards start to go at Leinster and then the ball started to be behind the Leinster forwards thus Ulster began to recyle quicker to keep the forwards going forward

DH was always better coming on early in the second half from the stand because in the stand he can see where the gaps are before he comes on to the field and then exploit them he never wasted his time sitting on the bench he spent it looking and reading the opposition
2B or not 2B that is the question ?

True the pack didn't help him but some of his passing was woeful, he doesn't seem to play witht he same urgency as Humph, but one word of warning Humph nearly always performs when he is sprung from the bench so as you say he is not the new Messiah, but for tonight we can all bask in the reflective glory of the man.

Hard on Paddy, but don't jump off the bandwagon quite so soon. An experienced fly half was always far more likely to do well in the situation today (rusty players, lack of possession, poor platform). Paddy has a lot to bring to Ulster, and the option of DH on the bench is a good situation for Ulster.

It was a great comeback and game by DH. Not sure what my co-workers thought was going on in my office, though... :cherry: :pukel:    what an emotional roller-coaster!
