I suspect that this weekend coming we shall see the problem with not giving the better fringe players like Warwick, proper gametime. My regular readers will know I have been astounded at how little play Big Licence has had, one has been bambozzled. Now he may well be asked to play 80 minutes. Bross, if he starts, what have we to fall back on ..... Ricky Lutton ........ oh wait Clark got rid of him effectively, maybe Fat Declan will have one last stand.

This season that has promised so little will now deliver exactly that. We're screwed, all hope is gone, every man for himself, save yourselves.

Warwick came on against Munster on Saturday and was very good in the time he was on. Where has he been the rest of the season? The most underused player in our squad.

I don't want us to throw in the towel though. All it takes is for us to have a decent game and take down the Weegies, and hope the Westies overcome the Hairsprays. Not beyond the realm of possibility, especially since Connacht are well in the hunt for 7th place and an SDC play-off spot.

We need to win, five points is largely unrealistic but 4 is doable. There is every chance that Connacht will take a good cut at the Osprets.

Presumed loss of Henderson literally massive. If Herbst isn't fit that would be equally problematic though to be fair to Bronson Ross he managed to steady the ship after getting hammered in the first 4/5 scrums.

You are a man with his ear to the ground, a bit like Tonto the time he said to the Lone Ranger, "Buffalo gum kemosabe" (ask me if you don't know the joke), so a little research and you will know why I'm suggesting that unless I'm hearing something very overstated, we could well be better off saving the players for the inevitable semi-final.

For clarity, I don't for one minute think we will protect our meagre resources, Doak would be afraid of the ridicule should Connacht amaze me & beat Ospreys.

It's really bizarre that one of the few occasions we played a few fringe guys, we played far too many and had the stupidity to do it away from home. ZEBRE now look at the consequences. There is evidence to suggest that we do the little bit of rotation we do, away from home. It would appear logical (my middle name incidentally) to throw in the odd fringe man with the bulk of the regulars at home. Doesn't happen, my theory is that we play at strength at home because of the financial imperative, the product, the "great nights at Spanners".

Financial sense perhaps, rugby stupidity. Every Pro12 home game with a few obvious exceptions (the other 4 top 5 teams) should have a couple of squad players starting, with the strength on the bench to cover a dodgy turn of events. Then Big Licence would have gone into that game with playing time behind him & 80 minutes next week, not such an ask.

I would be available free of charge to coach good sense at Ulster but I'm not holding my breath, nor clearing my diary.

Analyse the permutations anyway you want, but I am now 100% convinced that our best chance of winning this competition is to send the Ravens to Glasgow. Let the other 3 sides ship a few injuries and run themselves ragged trying to secure a home berth.

It's just about possible that BRoss's problem was as much on the other side of the scrum. He was battered when Black was in trouble & it did steady somewhat when Big Licence appeared. I expect them both to play a major part at the weekend.

BRoss has done better than I expected overall, but thon lump John Ryan appeared to destroy him, Ryan looked useful, for a player who has had troubles with a bowel illness to overcome, he's a strong lad.

There are a few positions Merv where if we ship more injuries we can entirely forget this year. Will be a struggle this week from what I hear.

We beat Glasgow and we get to play the 2nd placed team. That could be either the Os or Munster (but we're unlikely to know unless Connacht fold early). That's was why are best option was to miss the conversion on Saturday past.
