BBC NI not showing games from Italy

Re: BBC NI not showing games from Italy
Thanks Neil but I think a 'virtual private network' is out of the question! I have a dish picking up BBC free to view and all the ITVs, S4C etc., but find it annoying that the BBC online is blocked when I'm off the footprint. I'll probably have SportItalia on Zattoo or somewhere but the Bureaupratcy is pathetic.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

from the end of september all platforms - sky, cable, freeview - will have the same single-channel red button service that freeview users have.BR wrote:Tempting ... but pennies need to be saved for possible knock-out stages.Rooster wrote:Roadtrip ?BR wrote:Which still means I'll be looking for somewhere with SportItalia.
Has BBC given up on the whole 'red-button' thing now?
you will however be able to watch the ulster matches on the bbc sport internet-connected tv app - if you have tivo, or a ps3, or a smart tv.

So they're reducing my service on the basis that I can watch it on t'internet? Have the BBC decision makers ever been west of the Bann?aarons wrote:

West of the Bann? I'm 10mins from Belfast, i can even see the lights and am lucky to clock up half a meg on me broadband. Apparently I live between telephone exchanges, well theres a big surprise given i dont live in an exchange

I'm east of the Bann two, but I was generalising. Strongly considering canceling my ADSL and returning to a 56k fax modem - probably won't notice too much difference.ColinM wrote:BR wrote:So they're reducing my service on the basis that I can watch it on t'internet? House down the road from me has dial up and his neighbour 30m away is on another exchange and has 39meg on infinity, needless to say a wee bit of wireless pilfering is taking placeColinM wrote:

If i connect up the feed does that mean i will be able to view the 2 Italian away games on my TV through the internet medium?

Think the newer sky boxes are designed to access these streams too. Pity they dont do satellite broadband from their dishes then all their customers could benefit
Re: BBC NI not showing games from Italy
Wrong satellites though Colin, the broadband ones are over 90 degrees different in direction so not possible.ColinM wrote:Think the newer sky boxes are designed to access these streams too. Pity they dont do satellite broadband from their dishes then all their customers could benefit
If you have no broadband near tv a couple of homeplugs is the easiest answer and they generally set up with a button push, just connect one to tv etc and other to router

I don't think the app is available there, sadly.browner wrote:it's a Sony...bought last year.

I could have as many homeplugs as I wanted, I'd still be buffering all night until BT provide decent speed broadbandRooster wrote:Wrong satellites though Colin, the broadband ones are over 90 degrees different in direction so not possible.ColinM wrote:Think the newer sky boxes are designed to access these streams too.
