All very quiet from the Tigers, hopefully working hard on the training field, though quite a few internationals missing at the moment. Pollard and Montoya are going to be missing for some time, downside of having them I guess.

Tiger Bernie I know that the EPCR is run by a board of directors so out of curiositiy I googled. their names and was surprised to see Mark McCafferty was listed as an independent director.
Also googled him and lo and behold he has past history according to Wikipedia he is the ex CEO off Premier Rugby and is credited with the nmproved new look EPCR which replaced the Heineken Cup with considerably lower sponsorship deal thus saving Heineken several million and reducing the money going to the participants and leaving us with a poorer competition.
All of which was done to benefit the PRL an organisation that let Wasp set up a very dodgy financial scheme which led to their downfall.
How on earth can he be described as an Independent.

This bloke?
(from wiki)
Mark McCafferty was the Chief Executive Officer of Premiership Rugby, the entity that organises the English Premiership rugby union competition. McCafferty served as the Premier Rugby Association's chief executive since taking over from Howard Thomas in 2005.[1] Under McCafferty's tenure, the Premiership obtained a sponsorship contract with Guinness.[1] The Premiership then obtained a multi-year sponsorship from Aviva in 2010 for US $7.5 million annually; Aviva later signed a sponsorship renewal through 2017.[2] McCafferty has also helped the Premiership improved its Sky TV contract,[1] before signing in 2012 a four-year contract with BT worth 38 million British pounds annually.[3]

Rugby World ranked McCafferty as the most influential person in world rugby in 2014, due in large part to McCafferty's leadership in moving international European rugby competition to a new system where Premiership rugby has an increased role in governance, a larger share of revenues, and a revamped competitive format.[4]

McCafferty held several positions in the business world before taking up his role in Premiership Rugby — with Midland Bank, with the Thomas Cook group, and then with Avis

Exactly how can he described as neutral when his history of revising the Heineken Cup wholly to the advantage of the Premier League clubs and making it into a lesser competition. Doing away with the home and away element of the cup opening rounds makes it too dependant on the draw. One of the highlights were the back to back matches which no longer exist.
I know that he had left his role as CEO but he let the situation in Wasps and Worcester develop on his watch.
Personally I feel that the RFU failed in their role in governing Rugby in England by failing to control the PRL to the detriment of both their National Team and the clubs in the lower leagues.

The RFU cannot control the clubs, they are businesses and outside of their jurisdiction as companies, they govern the game, they could have run the clubs the same as the the then Celtic league sides, but the RFU didn't want the responsibility, one of the rare occasions where they actually conceded they were out of their depth.
