The Ulster Rugby Medical Performance team has issued a squad update ahead of this Saturday’s BKT United Rugby Championship Round 1 opener against Glasgow Warriors.
Players unavailable for selection due to injury for this weekend's fixture are John Cooney (hamstring), James Hume (knee), Jake Flannery (finger), Tom Stewart (ankle), Rob Herring (calf) and Robert Baloucoune (hamstring).
Captain, Iain Henderson, returns from his recent surgery and is available for selection.
Aaron Sexton (hamstring), Reuben Crothers (knee) and Zac Ward (groin) were all removed from play due to injury during Saturday's pre season friendly against Exeter Chiefs.
Their availability for selection will be monitored during training this week.

Assume Andrew and McCormick as Hookers. Baptism of fire. Hendo back.
Doak/ Shanners
Humphries or Murphy backing Morgan or Lowry/ Doak?
No TOT so assume EOS, Andrew and Wilson. Hendo and Sheridan to stack the row. McCann Reffell and? No Issy which is ridiculous since he didn't get time in SA.
Could be a painful night if Weegies stack their team before the AIs.

Sad that we start the season with between 6 and 9 injuries. That's the nature of the game I'm afraid. I assume all of the other senior teams are in pretty much the same boat.
Re: Ulster v Glasgow Sat Sep 21 7:45pm KO
are the irish players out this week? timoney played in pre season so thought TOT and izzy could play this week?
Re: Ulster v Glasgow Sat Sep 21 7:45pm KO
McCloskey and Herring (injured) were the only Ulster players to make the match day 23 in either test in South Africa and that was from the bench. No reason surely for the likes of McCloskey etc to not be involved on Saturday.

I suppose one could say that he has been hamstrung by said problem.
Never wrestle with a pig. You end up covered in muck and the pig loves it.

Jamie Osborne, Garry Ringrose, Sam Prendergast, James Ryan and Cian Healy who were all in South Africa named in the Leinster 23 v Edinburgh.

Think I read somewhere reasonably credible that Big Stu wasn’t available on Saturday?
I’m really hoping it’s horlix…..

Well you’d think so.
Saw one comment that said minutes are managed on a calendar year basis though.
Stu played about three games more than JO over the course of last season.
I guess we’ll find out tomorrow!

Jude has played 12 in both warm up games. Assume he is OK to play despite being named in the emerging ireland squad.

Yes, the squad announcement will have no impact, Prendergast for example is starting at 10 for Leinster v Edinburgh and he was named in the squad.jean valjean wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 5:16 pm Jude has played 12 in both warm up games.
