welcome Leonidas

are you referring to home or away games?

certainly for away games there are regular groups of fans who go a few or more games and are well recognisable with Ulster regalia and songs
see the URSC on tour link on the home page for more details

at Ravenhill it's take your pick really - beer tent or Scoop, terrace or prom (or stand  ) . Visit the URSC stand beside the beer tent and the guys'll point you in the right direction.

Over at the 22 on beer tent end the second barrier crew can be found, but not at the second barrier  they are the noisy ones
As for away games, just turn up and listen for the noise, then join in, all away fans appear to sing  pity was not the same at home games

So is the Second Barrier Crew a loose affiliation of people who like to make lots of noise or are you a close bunch of mates that might make me do some sort of strange initiation.

Morning Leonidas,

The origins of the Second Barrier Crew are almost lost in the mists of time. Perhaps only Cables can recall, for they were recorded on another message board long ago.

We are a fairly loose affiliation of fans, (although we do have an official shirt – well two official shirts actually) who try to make a lot of noise. We even try to sing, but the Cap’n keeps starting off in the wrong key, the daft galoot.

We meet on the terrace by the half way line. We used to stand behind the second barrier but last season it was more often the third and fourth barriers. You will be very welcome indeed and we will lend you one of our wee flegs to wave.

As for strange initiations, absolutely not, but if you like we will arrange for your Ulster Jersey to be printed with the official barrier regalia. (In this regard we hope to add Mid Ulster Maestro officially to the ranks, shortly.)

See you next Saturday? I’ll introduce you to the motley crew.

I notice that HardToMissInThatHatMike has, over the course of time, drifted back down towards the 2BU Crew. Can the Capn confirm if he is now a member of the crew. The terrace dwellers have a right 2 no!

Even I stood with the Crew at the Titans' match. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. As for the singing......
On Saturday I'll be back with the posh people. :)

Re Holywood thingmy, when he saw the cheerleaders I don't think he knew, or cared, where he was!

I have to admit to watching HM's face through my bin's rather than watching the cheerleaders themselves. I nearly called an ambulance for him at one point. ;)

me and junior (the better 1/2 not making it) settled in well with "2nd Barrier Crew" last friday and werent told to leave so it may return. Its great to b somewhere where singing and flag waving is positively encouraged rather than frowned upon or stared at. The 6 other regulars of our wee clan who used to congegate far side of the 1/2 way line near the top werent there so whether or not they follow us to the "Crew" this saturday remains to be seen. Should b in good vocal mood after the earlier game at Windsor pk. plan is to get taxi from Botanic bout 6.30pm.

Cheerleaders - i was, to say the least, a bit disappointed that they seemed to perform solely for the benefit of the Promenade. I trust this will b rectified atthe earliest opportunity or i'll need to bring binoculars.

Gotta admit, all the afore mentioned have taken the 2bu shilling of late and congregate together. If we get 21 such souls at any one time, we might just get the key then kimmy!

BR - if you keep an eye out on the SCOOP site, you just might see reference to Holywood thingmy's reaction to the cheerleaders - eventually!!!

Ahoy Cap'n.

I do believe that the SCOOP presses are being oiled and should be rolling tonight. At least I think that's what the noise is from next door - maybe its Kimble opening his wallet!
