Actually, he was to them.

Merely pointing out that the game is over, in the heat of battle the odd cheap one happens, and that the same guy took defeat in his stride. Nothing worse than a bad loser - other than a bad winner. Just my opinion.

I decree that a valid and correct opinion. Some of the greatest gentlemen can be a bit of a terror on the pitch at times, a lot of supposedly hard men play like pussies, go figure.

From all intel gathered over many years, D'Arcy is a top bloke, who allegedly never socialised with his more famed partner, the smirky little BT presenter. Good enough for me, should be good enough for anyone.

I find it sad that a player like D'Arcy is as poorly respected here as Paddy Wallace was in Mexico, Two fine players who both have given lots for club & country.

Crazy thread. D'Arsy stuff of nothing. Maybe you should all take a look at McCarthy's performance. I spotted at least one boot go in, and plenty of Judas stuff. Deserved a gubbin' but with Lacey around, ignore was the best option. Journeyman struggling to match two other proper international locks, a crackin Saffer and the New Fez/POC hybrid on the pitch tonight. He offers F*ck all as a second. RWcC squad place would be a travesty.

When Rory stuck the boot out against France I'm fairly sure I remarked on it somewhere in the 6N thread, as being both deserving of a yellow card and fairly uncharacteristic.

Someone tell me which of the following is incorrect:

- D'Arcy, and Leinster, used to be good
- D'Arcy, and Leinster, used to get away with bits and pieces of "dawg" or borderline play
- D'Arcy, and Leinster, still get away with such stuff, but are no longer good.

Rory's no saint, fair enough, but I've yet to see him throw a dig at someone at the bottom of a ruck who's doing absolutely nothing. (I'm not saying this hasn't happened, I just haven't seen it - if someone can name an instance where it did happen, then Rory would be guilty of dirty play.)

Also, the "D'Arcy is nice to children" thing is a complete straw man, as it is completely unrelated to his conduct on the pitch. Dylan Hartley, by all accounts, is an ambassador for the sport off the pitch, eg taking time to chat to a young disabled Leinster fan and give him his boots after the Aviva pool match last year: this doesn't detract from his long track record of dirty play within the 80 minutes.

Who on this forum who has played the game can honestly say that they haven't had a dig at someone on the pitch? Especially in a tight game against bitter rivals? And then shaken hands and had a laugh about it after?

Not me, certainly.

I don't think D'Arcy can be compared to the likes of Dylan Hartley, who seem to go out on the pitch looking for every opportunity for the cheap shot. I bet Rory thought nothing of it.

I like Darse. He's getting on and a bit past it, so that we tend to forget how great a centre he was when he first burst on to the scene for Ireland and was tearing defences apart. A good illustration of the wisdom of retiring at your peak. I think BOD probably hung around a year too long as well.

Darcy will be remembered for how up and down his career was. From the brilliance of 08/09 to the dross of 12/13 where he spent a whole year doing his best impression of a penguin catching a ball.

That said, this was a Ulster Leinster match, which was relatively tame compared to last year, a dig to the stomach seems like a minor offence when it comes to the potential 3 reds of the last year.

Which is something I don't see in coached pass it to the fat lad .
