I'm not suggesting he does that. What ever the outcome against Georgia (if he even plays) I don't think Darren will play against the Aussies, feature in the 6 nations or even make the WC squad. Anyone thinking this is big chance is deluded. I hope I'm wrong. An extra cap or two may help his contract negotiations though.Shan wrote:Yeah. He should just tell them to shove it. That'll show them what an ambitious and professional young man he is. He'll really stick it to the man.Dave wrote: Come on lads it's tokenism. No Jared and no D'Arcy. It's against a tier 11 side. Will he be in the frame for the Aussies? Will he feck.
My friend is hovering and telling me to keep calm and the light will shine out in the darkened place. Last week he said something similar, "Be patient with them my good chap and you shall see universal belief and hope restored" He was correct then and I believe he is correct now.

1. Henshaw was the best 13 included in the squad for last week
2. Cave had been cast aside, so safe to then cast him aside from reckoning in Irish discussions
3. Cave is the best 13 in Ireland now that he has been re-included in the reckoning
4. Cave is the best 13 at Ulster by a country mile
5. Hook once said Earls was the future of Ireland, nuff said
Stop. You're making it worse.

All anyone here has said is that it is great that Darren Cave seems to be in with a chance of playing for Ireland this weekend. Some may not think that playing for Ireland is a big deal. I think it is. Ask thousands of lads who've played the game over the years and they'll likely say the same. I'm sure Darren Cave will be thrilled if he gets to play for Ireland. I am not suggesting he will be happy not to get another chance and against better opposition in the future.

Of course Shan you are talking sense as usual thousands would, myself included, but for Darren I think he deserves better opportunities. Maybe they will come who knows. I don't. I know nothingShan wrote:Dave wrote:

Ah I see you are using my logic on this one Shan, that was why I reckoned he would play this weekend even though when I said it he was over 3000 miles away from Dublin.Shan wrote:Agreed Rocky. Getting to play for Ireland is seen as bad by some. I can't really understand that.rocky wrote:
It's a lot better than going down to hold tackle bags and carry water! If true, of course.
It could be true. If Payne is fecked as we are led to believe and Henshaw is going to be rested so as to play v Aussies it doesn't leave too many other options. Darcy is probably the only one and he may be at 12.

Assuming the rumour is true and Cave is picked, I worry that he will not see as much of ball as he should. I suspect Madigan will attempt the one man Quiff show against a weak Georgia back line. I fully expect the ball-greedy wee fecker to get MOTM and the Dublin press to hail the second coming of the messiah.
The D4, Quiff-loving brigade will totally fail to accept that one of the most important functions of these AIs is to try out different combinations in the three-quarters.
That's what my crystal balls are saying anyway...

If Cave is announced in the team, does this thread go into a (albeit minor) melt-up?

Certainly won't result in one of the more conventional states of matter. Perhaps a supercooled liquid?rorybestsbigbaldnoggin wrote:If Cave is announced in the team, does this thread go into a (albeit minor) melt-up?

Now everyone is on about Cave etc the fact is that Madigan should not start at 10 he is similar to NoC he has never develop as a 10 but as a player to have on the bench there are few I would rather see . There are at least 3 Irish qualified 10s better than Madigan .

Re: Ireland team v. Georgia
Wait for the team.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

I made a provision for this already in the thread. We will still have a meltdown because it is pure tokenism and not a meaningful opportunity. Problem solved, let the meltdown continue!rorybestsbigbaldnoggin wrote:If Cave is announced in the team, does this thread go into a (albeit minor) melt-up?
