More importantly, what's the weather going to be like and will the Horse Show bar be doing posh D4 burgers with ciabatta and fancy salad?
Mrs BM says there is high pressure moving in which promises warm weather.

Indeed he did & continues to do so, I understand that he has more or less indicated he has no interest in playing for Ulster this season.Kofi Annan wrote:If that's the case , good riddance , he saw a weakness and took the pîsskingofthehill wrote:Afoa has played his last Ulster game.Dave wrote:We will need Ruan, Rory, Dan, Wilson and ideally Afoa available to be competitive. RP and RB will play.
I'd love to see a statement (but won't) saying BigWelder will play any remaining games this season and that former part-time player John Afoa is welcome to fack right off just as soon as he likes and stop wasting our time, we only want players who regard pulling the shirt on as a privilege.

He bought into Ulster, not in the Muller or Pienaar way, but it didn't work out and family is kind of important. He did come early to pull us out of a hole after the world cup. The guy was in a hole once his wife cut and ran back to NZ. He'll never be up there with the great niq signings, but he was as better than some.
I ask a serious question, if you went to work in Auckland & your wife very quickly said frig this for a game of soldiers I'm off, what would you do?
Starting the responses I would do one of two things. If I could still stand the sight of the treacherous woman, I would do the right thing and 1) see out my contract to it's full extent 2) Honourably seek release from my contract and go & live with her.
Aternatively if you are simply a meal ticket & she can have a gay old time while you reside at almost the direct antipode to her then options include divorce.
What is unacceptable & as Kofi says shows weakness on one part & taking the pish on the other, is that you given special terms, very clearly not available to other team-mates, that proves divisive, that you set your own agenda, that you don't bother your crozier even trying to appear part of the team, for example you go to the awards dinner dressed as a tramp, you don't bother appearing at the last home game of the season when others are taking a bow & so should you if you gave a toss.
We got a decent half season out of Afoa, we then got a nonsense 2nd season & an almost non-existent final year, I shall never utter his name again without a measure of bile.

Exactly Snipe, I'd seek & pester for release from my contract and live on whatever pittance The Blues could afford. Not what John Afoa did, he & wife clearly placed value on his Ulster salary & not much else.Snipe Watson wrote:Maybe you guys know more about the circumstances of this one than I do. But there's nothing more important to me than my kids and if they were in New Zealand, that's where I would want to be and it's where I would be at every possible opportunity.rocky wrote:Afraid I'm with Kofi on this one, Snipe. While Muller has been and will forever remain an Ulsterman in all but birth, Afoa never was and never will be, IMO.Kofi Annan wrote:Snipe, unfortunately, in rugby as in life, your only ever remembered for your last bad deed.
All in all a bad dose, best forgotten with all due haste.
Interesting fact:
With his need to be more present for his family in mind, the move to Gloucester throws up this fact -
Belfast to Auckland 11,203 mi travelling west for shortest route
Gloucester to Auckland 11,382 mi travelling east for shortest route
Moving further away from Mrs Hooks
NOw did someone say there s a game on Saturday?

Re: Leinster Vs Ulster Pro12 Semi
It would appear Kofi that is unlikely, all Payne's appearances at 13 have been at Ravenhill & s we all know, Cave hasn't any injury issues that he hasn't carried for 2 years.Kofi Annan wrote:Surely Maaark will play Payne at 13 if he is honest in his selectionSpiffsson wrote:So we are looking at :
Payne
Bowe Cave Marshall Trimble
Jackson
Pienaar
Black Rory Warwick
Muller Tuohy
Hendo Wilson Henry
Plus a wheen of assorted side kicks on the bench. Looks powerful to me! Could nick a win in Mexico.
I like the look of that team, if it plays and has key members fit rather than simply prepared to take some pain & give it a lash, then all things are possible.
Looking forward to being there to see BOD's last game of rugby.

As I have already said, I have no idea what was changed when BBJ's contract was restructured once his wife left. I doubt if anyone else on this board has any idea either. Let's say for sake of argument, he was on 70% of his original money for 60% of the games with a gurantee that he was available for all the big games with releases negotiated to fit in with times when he was not so badly needed. If Humph was happy with that and John was happy, what's the problem?BaggyTrousers wrote:I ask a serious question, if you went to work in Auckland & your wife very quickly said frig this for a game of soldiers I'm off, what would you do?Snipe Watson wrote:Harsh Kofi, very harsh.Kofi Annan wrote:If that's the case , good riddance , he saw a weakness and took the pîsskingofthehill wrote:Afoa has played his last Ulster game.Dave wrote:We will need Ruan, Rory, Dan, Wilson and ideally Afoa available to be competitive. Why are we discussing Afoas contract?
Is Payne going to play 13? Will Pienaar be back? These are the questions!
