Ulster in a world club sevens?

Stu may well be right, and I'm not looking forwards to such a day. I don't much care for Sevens as a game. But I do think many are writing it off as a potential development tool, something to help youngsters make the jump to Pro12 standard - although realistically, Ulster don't really have enough guys in that boat to make it worthwhile, but there's probably 2 or 3 who might benefit if Ireland were to start a 7s team.

Can anyone name me a player who developed on the sevens circuit who has gone on to achieve something substantial in the international side of a top-flight nation? I can think of a couple of mediocre wingers in the Aviva Premiership but that really is about it.

Did some chap called Jonah Lomu not come from playing on the 7 s circuit, I know he was pretty mediocre in his time, but I may be wrong.

Just a random idea to try and get a bit more interest in the Rabo league or whatever it is to be.

Why not run a seperate but concurrent 7s league along with the 15 aside one. Each week before the main game you have a proper 7s match. 7 minutes a side. Academy and young players get a chance to shine, only a few minutes extra at the ground, big crowd - 7s teams get own merchandise but play at same venue and day as seniors match??????
