End terraces replaced the capacity lost from the redesigned grandstand.
Re: Stadium Redevelopment Photos 2012-2014
IIRC the capacity of the ground at recent games, that we were told were a sell out, was given as 14000 the new stand at best will hold, according to Rooster 2800, that figure, in my opinion, does not allow for the three cut outs along the length of the stand So how does the ground have a capacity of over 18000Rooster wrote:Only 14 rows instead of 20 if my counting of the pictures is correct so approx capacity 2800 ?
Re: Stadium Redevelopment Photos 2012-2014
Prom capacity is still not 100% IMHO.

Come on people, tighten up. These architects and builders presumably know what they're doing. All will be well!

The plans were 16 500 in the stadium - 1500 in Elanor's back yard looking through the glass panels ... but that's just a pipe dream now ...

Or anything close, us terrace dwellers have commented regularly on how few were on the Prom given a sell-out crowd. I assume H&S dictated reduced Prom dwellers until access has been fully resolved.BR wrote:Prom capacity is still not 100% IMHO.
My question was not intended to question overall capacity, I assume the plans to be correct in the capacity the ground. I am simply saying that to me the new stand appears small ....................and whisper it, lest the Ulster are Brill brigade take offence, not overly impressive to the eye, certainly dwarfed by the CAT stand in tiggertown.
Any news on when we start filling in the corners
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

If there has been a change, it must be for the better. Why would UR rugby change a plan that had been passed unless it was to make the facility function better?
Re: Stadium Redevelopment Photos 2012-2014
Are we talking about the original change (from the back-filled stand in the original pp submission) or do we suspect a more recent change?Snipe Watson wrote:If there has been a change, it must be for the better. it also has worse views from their terrace than ours 9even with the change to rear loading). It has an in-between version of our terrace and our old prom - rake is too small.BR wrote:Welford road is a freak though.
Still overall an impressive ground though.
I'm not arguing -

I'm sure there have been tweaks, but i'm sure there are good reasons for them.BR wrote:Are we talking about the original change (from the back-filled stand in the original pp submission) or do we suspect a more recent change?Snipe Watson wrote:If there has been a change, it must be for the better. WR has no atmosphere without us

Dear Baggy. As a Prom dweller I can state that the Neon Nazi's have been shoving people into the prom until it has become almost impossible to move and and frankly bloody uncomfortable especially when you add the Cigarette Smoking man and Pipe Monster into the mix. Don't know how it looks from the other side of the pitch, but from someone compressed into the middle I can say that it is much more congested than it was before.. Whats worse is that it is now very very difficult to reach the bar without missing 10 minutes from the game, and seriously the only "bar" on the prom side for the mean time sells only bottles at £4!! Seriously considering a move to the dark side for next seasonBaggyTrousers wrote:Or anything close, us terrace dwellers have commented regularly on how few were on the Prom given a sell-out crowd.
