Diack on bench. I cannot understand that. From captain to Irish panel to bench. What are they thinking about? Our most consistent back rower this year. Williams has not been great and contributed nothing last week. He should have been on the bench and brought on as an impact sub later in the game as we all know he will struggle beyond the 40 minute mark.

Horses for courses. This is a game for heavyweights.

Big selection error made. Back row totally unbalanced. How can you drop our best line out operator in Diack against Leicester who will challenge our ball? How can you drop Diack for Williams? The guy is totally unfit and has done nothing all year. Why take on Leicester at their own game when we can't match their strength.
No this is a fundamentally bad selection and if it fails as I fear it will it should signal the end of the road for Anscombe.

I hope I'm wrong and we still win but…

Anscombe seems to like him - who would you have as an alternative?

Probably have preferred Adam Darcy tbh.

There must be some concern over Gilroy as they've put an extra back in on the bench this week. Aside from that, I like more of what I see of Nelson (is he regd though?). Unfortunately Anscombe seems to have him down the pecking order, and Dungannon play him at 10.

Darcy's gone. We can't contract every player we like the look of - just in case we may need them (we're not RCT).

Nelson wasn't registered. On the face of it, I think I would have moved to register him in place of Olding - don't know the thinking behind that. As I said, Anscome seems to like McIlwaine - maybe he will repay him, if required.

I think Dungannon play him at 10 because it's either that or a Paddy Johns, ffs don't read to much into it. And as much as McIlwaine has faults and I have been a critic, Darcy was worse.

Matchday guide : Tigers vs Ulster

Past European champions Leicester Tigers and Ulster Rugby go head to head at Welford Road on Saturday evening in a clash which will determine top spot in Pool 5. Kick-off is at 6pm

A Welford Road full house will greet the two teams who are separated by just two points in the table going into the last game of the qualifying stages and with the chance to earn a home quarter-final acting as incentive.
Turnstiles and all bars and food kiosks, plus the Junior Tigers Club VIP Area in the GNC Stand, will be open from 4pm on Saturday.

The JTC area includes games and entertainment for young supporters and a chance to be chosen as a Tiger Cub for the day.

The Tigers Club Store is open all day and there are extra merchandise units in the GNC Stand when the turnstiles are opened.

The 100-page matchday programme includes an in-depth chat with back-rower Jamie Gibson and we've got a picture special with some of the Irishmen who have worn Tigers colours, as well as Postcard From Treviso in Fanzone and news from around the Heineken Cup. The programme is on sale around the stadium, price £3.

Half-time entertainment will be provided as a group of supporters take on the Big Boot, chasing a cash prize and a place on top of the season's leaderboard as they look to make as many catches as possible as rugby balls are fired high into the Welford Road sky.

Arriva's matchday bus services are in operation, from Market Harborough, Oakham, Nuneaton, Market Bosworth and Melton Mowbray, and scheduled to arrive half an hour before kick-off. All matchday ticket collections are from the collection point on the GNC Stand plaza, not from the ticket office. As we are expecting a capacity 24,000 crowd, please allow plenty of time for any collections and to get to your places ahead of kick-off.

On paper our pack is better, surprised Mafi didnt start

Mafi just back from a long lay off due to compassionate leave in Australia(birth of his baby),only played half a game last week, good impact player who covers the back 5 positions. On paper I think our pack is way stronger, but of course the games played on grass not paper.Miles Benjamin has a knee injury, I might expect a late team change with the bench changing prop wise, been done before.

Would say the front rows are fairly even, depending on which Afoa turns up, that will determine who has the edge. Second row we have the edge - Parling is a big loss for you in games like this. Hard to see which back row is the strongest, Henry the best 7 but Wilson and Williams could be a disaster

Has everyone forgotten that the Wilson, Henry, Williams backrow is the one that played when Leicester came to Ravenhill? Indeed, at that time, I seem to remember that even the venerealable BaggyTrousers was postulating that this was our backrow for all of the rest of the seasons big games... I don't know why people are expecting the backrow, itself, to be a disaster? It could be if Williams shows up like he did last week but apart from that, nothing to worry about!

At a guess: all of Muller, Henry, Williams and Henderson coming back from injuries meant that Anscombe needed more forwards on the bench to cover these guys as they tired and so on. All seem to have proven they are back to top fitness and can last the duration of needed, so may as well have more game-changing back options on the bench. Like... erm... McIlwaine...
