The away supporters

Post by davejohnston »

It was mentioned in the montpellier v ulster thread, but thought it merited a thread if it's own. We'll done to all the supporters at the match today. You came over loud and clear on sky today, it made Montpellier seem far from a fortress - salute you :salut:

Lost my voice at Stade Yves du Manoir, you had to be there to experience the passion and noise eminating from the travelling faithful. Halfway thru the second half some clever Ulster fan in the back row of Eden stand left side started kicking? or slapping the metal partition at the rear of the back row. Result? A far superior noise to the numerous drums of Montpellier fans behind posts and along sidelines. As a further result Ulster fans sang, chanted and shouted louder and longer plus the stadium officials in that area became seriously worried looking as I genuinely believe they had never experienced our noise levels before.

Absolutely awesome result and experience on my first away trip. So so noisy and passionate, so enjoyable and so proud to be an Ulster fan today in an awesome setting in a beautiful town.

By the way a very very big thank you to our travelling supporters from Leicester Tigers, Munster, Edinburgh and Dublin complete with fancy dress. Lastly a big salute to the proud Ulster fan from Cavan I met in Hotel Kyriad in Montpellier last night. Chapeau!! Still recovering from the absolute emotonal aftermath of today.

My voice will not recover for about a week but unquestionably worth it. I was part of a very small bunch of Ulster fans in the Murrayfield stand (right at the front), vastly outnumbered but still guldering with the best of them. It was great to see the three main pockets of Ulstermen standing up and driving the lads forward; great effort :salut:

I'll add that apart from the whistling at kicks, the Montpellier fans all around us were good craic too. They gave the five of us a polite round of applause when they saw we actually DO stand up for the Ulstermen. Great atmosphere, great result!

I have 1 pair of jeans with me, when I find them, I'm worried they will be the worse for wear after that.

I thought fans were lacking strength in depth in some parts of the ground .
Big respect to Edinburgh fans who came to game now on the way to stand up for Edinburgh . Even bigger respect to Timmy for joining fans in square.

Noise from ulster fans was superb......why can't we sing like that at Ravenhill b.t.w. ?
Every fan absolutely sung their hearts out....
Absolutely stunned look on the montpellier fans faces when we got up to sing on the gulder......... "waddabout her eyes ? " :red: :fleg:

The bigger ground means its harder for us to rest enough fans in our rabo games in the leadup to the HEC. :stir:

Great first away game to pick, well done to all. I don't recall hearing Ulster fans as clearly ever in an away game, barring finals.

Stan'up for yourselves, great support. :red:
