Ulster V Glasgow

Post by bootlaced »

Well obviously with all the doom mongers on the forum we are going to get hammered, sure it will only be our second game of the season but who cares about that.I reckon that we should just slag off all our players now before the game and get it over with.Stand Up Only When We Are Winning For The Ulstermen, SUOWWAWFTU. >EW

Yep, move on, get last night out of our system and get a good win at Ravenhill to boost the confidence. However, sadly, a massive improvement will be needed if we're to get the win.

Team-wise is Williams back? Need to start with our best team out, or these guys will tank us:
15. J Payne, 14. A Trimble, 13. D Cave, 12. L Marshall, 11. D McIlwaine, 10. P Jackson, 9. P Marshall; 1. T Court, 2. R Herring, 3. D Fitzpatrick, 4. J Muller (c), 5. D Tuohy, 6. R Diack, 7. C Henry, 8. R Wilson.

16. N Annett, 17. C Black, 18. R Lutton, 19. I Henderson, 20. N Williams, 21. I Porter, 22. S Olding, 23. C Farrell.

If it was me I would start Black and Lutton again as I think they did superbly last night in the scrum compared to their replacements, but I think MA will go for Court and Fitz. Allen would definitely replace McIlwaine too, but again MA seems to rate McIlwaine.

Simple question. When are our big guns due back. This resting policy is ludicrous. Surely pro rugby players do not need a two month rest after a few games. Sexton is back playing away with no ill affects. Why not others?

Spot on Cracker. Is there any evidence that the IRFU resting programme actually works? According to brother Tim Nanai, Nick is on way home.

If they are then they'll be back in the team, I'll simply edit my first prediction as I get new info!

Is Michael Allen injured?? If not I would have him in the team ahead of McIlwaine.

Williams should be back. Was saying goodbye on twitter yesterday so I assume he was flying home.

I'd be tempted to say it does more harm than good. Our Ireland players seem to hardly practice with Ulster at all. This is bound to lead to a lack of cohesion in the few games they do play for us.

I'm not convinced I'd want FNW to start -we now need more control and skill at 8 IMHO.

From last night, I'd start Windy, Trimble, Luke C, Porter, Black, Annett, Van, Muller (just), Stevenson, Diack(just), Doyle (just) and WIlson.

The rest are dropped.

We need a bit more brute force in there. Wilson looked sharp enough when something came up, but a bit rusty in general. FNW in for me. If you don't, Henderson has to start at 6.

I'd swap Herring for he was always chatting to ref last night and did a good job although a few miscalls on the lineout- for Annett(who I do rate) Is Van=Lutton? Because I'd have him over Deccie. Can't see Henry benched in place of Doyle, but it's getting closer the more Doyle plays.

Are you including The G Prince and Mcilwaine? I'd choose Allen over McIlwaine but was Gilroy not due back for Glasgee? Maybe the match after I dunno....

I'd have Wilson again 8, he did good work for the try, I think we'll see FNW on with 20 to go.

9 & 10 really restricted our efforts last night and the whole back line were not great (understatement I know!). It's alright saying its just the start of the season, but it's the same for every other team and if we donate more points next week it's going to be a long hard season.

Interesting choices this week.

Judging from Marks post match interview, id expect a fair few changes.

Henderson for Diack.
Doyle for Henry
Porter for Marshall
Marshall to 12.
Cave at 13.
McIlwaine out, Allen in.

Pretty poor that we're restricted to, on current form anyway, pretty average players when it comes to half backs. Its said alot and PJ could be a very good player but didnt look anything special last night. If we had NOC in last night we would have won.

I see Humphreys had a good game for Irish today....
Chris Henry is superhuman... I think he's half cyborg
