A very good 50 minutes tonight to win the game, hope the fairly dreadful last 30 was just keeping our powder dry, nothing to be gained from going for the jugular with the game won.
Our subs offered nothing tonight by & large, p was indeed instrumental in their 2nd try & made a pretty cursory attempt to tackle for their first.
Some very good play & the highlight of the night for me was Fat Nick holding the John off with a palm in his bake whilst someone was scrabbling around Nick's ankles. It was like holding off a 6 year old who is desperately throwing punches.
Job done, we now have our home final to look forward to.

NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Good point WW the stand out player for me was PJ. I am not saying all the other posts are wrong but jarred, St Ruan, FNW etc can all produce the goods. The stand out difference for me was PJ's attacking play something that I think is lacking from his game. Perhaps this is just another sign of him growing into the role.

Great post ATH. Highlighted the part above - my sister-in-law is part of the choir and she was absolutely fizzing about the whole event last night. I'll have to pass this on!againstthehead wrote:Positives
- thought the atmosphere was a credit to Ulster Rugby and the RaboDirect Pro 12. The drummers and choir just gave the occasion a lift and let everyone know that is was something special. Would have liked a rendition of Danny Boy myelf as I thought it was a bit cruel making such a good choir sing SUFTUM but anyway..... And the half-time goal kicking is always a laugh. Fans terrific - superb.

For Robbie's try, Nick is at the front of the maul as it rumbles over. He just picks up McCusker rumbles over him and then chucks him out of the way.Snipe Watson wrote:Possibly the best laugh of the seasonBaggyTrousers wrote: Some very good play & the highlight of the night for me was Fat Nick holding the John off with a palm in his bake whilst someone was scrabbling around Nick's ankles. Big man was inspired last night.
There were a couple of counts of ABH in there too and at least one GBH.
No harm to Rory, but......... MOTM

Just before that for Robbie's try, he stood with the hand out in the 'stop - no-one goes through here' mode - and they just stood and looked at him - hilarious!!!

Re: Positives and Negatives: Rabo Semi-Final
I think the quick try after half time sealed the win and when it was closely followed by two prolonged stoppages for injuries Ulster realised there was a final to play and players wanted to avoid injury which together with the substitutions
the attacking ability was lost and the defence was looser.
And there were no bonus points to be made and little to be gained by a big score win a win was enough on the night.
The Scarlets first try was well taken and I think proves the benefit of PJ at 10 . Peinaar is a reluctant tackler at 9 trying to ensure he is available to make the pass and unfortunately the same approach is maintained when playing 10 after having started at 9.

I see that according to Scarlet Fever, Roland handed us the match and with a neutral ref they would have won lol.

It is time to stop playing Hendo in the second row. Yes he can play there, but goes AWOL and hence seems to have a bad game. At flanker he is star.

Scarlet fans have to remember that Ulster took their foot off the pedal after 50 minutes. Not being cocky but Ulster were never going to loose that match
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

I enjoyed the fella who hypothesized that with a neutral ref they would have won 10-17. No explanation of where he plucked those scores from though.Thelaw wrote:silliwilli wrote:I see that according to Scarlet Fever, Roland handed us the match and with a neutral ref they would have won lol.

One guy also said he hated Ulster more than any team bar Ospreys...which seemed a bit harsh.
Re: Positives and Negatives: Rabo Semi-Final
Scarlets fans in the scoop had no problem with the result and a bunch of decent lads as well.
