Why are some events listed as being available on BBC Red Button when they are not available on Freeview?

Unfortunately, some red button events are not available on Freeview. This is due to limited bandwidth on this platform. Our billings always reflect these instances where possible. We always ask TV presenters to make this clear when promoting red button content but sometimes due to time constraints this is not conveyed in full.

We are in regular contact with our presenters and always aim to ensure they are up to date with what programmes are available on Freeview. Please accept our apology if any information they gave out on air was incorrect. More information can be found on the BBC Internet Blog.
I only have the Sky box set up, I have never got around to having a digital aerial put up.
Last Sunday I just went to channel 101 and watched the Zebre game via the Red Button.
I'm hoping for the same tomorrow come 16:05.

red button is the same on all platforms as of this autumn. red button events are almost never made available to watch on-demand in full, either on iplayer or the sport website

Right so who is wrong tomorrow then Winker and co here plus UR say it's on red button while EPG says its Ospreys v Edinburgh
Does not nmatch anything on EPG actually as match starts at 18:05 so that overlaps 2 red button programmes on EPG

Lets be clear about one or two things:
(1) There is only one red button on all BBC platforms including satellite and cable. The red button content will therefore be the same on all 3 platforms including Freeview.
(2) Red button on Freeview takes you to Ch 301 which has Edinburgh vs Ospreys listed on EPG preceded by football forum so no coverage listed of Ulster game.
This means that almost certainly if the Ulster game is being covered it will be via BBC website. Those with smart TVs should be able to watch it on their TV via internet connection. Others can use their computers to stream it.

Are you entirely sure about point 1?

I'm fairly sure that when I was living in England for a while an Ulster match was on the red button on BBC NI only.

That is my thinking at present Moiraman, now can anyone record this ?

In this day and age how is it that we don't know if its going to be shown live at all? BBC have got to get a grip with this.

Well we have been told repeatedly by the BBC that it *IS* on, and I suppose that would have been enough for us in years gone by. But experience has shown that you can't trust anything the BBC tells you. Their credibility is shot, so now when they say 'A crow is black', we tend to think maybe a seagull has been nesting in the coal-bunker.

The fact that it was this fixture last season on the red button was not shown at the last minute due to technical difficulties with the satellite feed. Safer bet just using the internet.

The issue last year was a feck-up by the host broadcaster so the game wasn't shown live anywhere - including Italy. If the host broadcaster can't broadcast the game, then it won't be on the internet either.

Yeah, it is scheduled for 22.45 (Italy time) on Sportitalia 2.
