But you don't need to have downward pressure Snipe ;

22.1 GROUNDING THE BALL
There are two ways a player can ground the ball:
(a) Player touches the ground with the ball. A player grounds the ball by holding the ball and touching the ground with it, in in-goal. ‘Holding’ means holding in the hand or hands, or in the arm or arms. No downward pressure is required.

(b) Player presses down on the ball. A player grounds the ball when it is on the ground in the in-goal and the player presses down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of the player’s body from waist to neck inclusive.

Is he not related to Haskell? If I recall he's a dwarf hybrid chavchild born after one of Haskell's earliest England tours.

Wales under performed yesterday but in the end they won and fully deserved their Triple Crown. I don't think you will find too many present international players or retired international players looking back on their careers and belittling the value of a Triple Crown...I rather suspect it's something they look back on with great pride.

But why Beattie? The triple crown was great when it was a 4 nations competition, but now with Italy and France in the championship, why celebrate a small shield you can get, without actually winning the championship. Smacks of second best to me.

Irelands "golden generation" won the triple crown a few times but lost the championship to the French, but yet, the way some people spoke of the TC you would think we had won the world cup.

Nonsense, D'arcy is probably the strongest defender at 12 in the world; McF isn't BOD, but he's a good tackler, he got bumped once by a big guy, it happens. In any event, it isn't just the centres, our entire defensive line was passive, I was watching in despair and disbelief as we simply invited them onto us time and time again..

and on the Triple Crown point, it's a total irrelevance - it was for Ireland, it is this year for Wales.

On the Strettle 'try', well firstly they should arguably already have had a pen try for North slapping the ball away; I thought there were about 2 angles which suggested a try, and about 3-4 which were inconclusive - there's no doubt it was close, but I have seen many, many flakier tries given (e.g. Ospreys on Fri night) in the interests of giving the attacking team the benefit of the doubt, I don't like the English press whingeing any more than your next man, but they have a genuine case here I think..

Thoought D'Arcy played a good enforcer role yesterday. Definitely needed again next week.

Agree that it should have a penalty/yellow card for the North incident, I remember a similar thing a few years with Tommy getting carded.

No way the TMO could have given the try. There was no conclusive shot that showed the ball touching the ground over or on the line. He very well may have scored but if it can't be seen it can't be given.

correct Tommy did the same against the All blacks 3 years ago just before half time and the AB's got a penalty try, there was no difference

I remember being overjoyed when we won it twice in the 80s, yet when we won it in those times recently it definately was not the same.
Clive Woodward I recall was rather dismissive about it as when Italy joined the 6n all it basically meant was that you have won 3 out 5 games, well done sort of thing.
Think it meant more to the welsh players and supporters to beat England rather than winning the triple crown.
I know because I was drinking with a load of them who never even mentioned the fact they had won the triple crown afterwards.
It is possible that they were actually unaware of it!
