How did people manage to get to Paris for the game?

When we were looking into getting down from Brussels it was looking like 120 euros return on the train.

Because there were no taxis available in the Brussels blizzard and all the ticket machines in the deserted metro station were broken, our journey involved being escorted to Brussels Midi (ticketless) on the metro by a very kind homeless gentleman, then waiting for two and a half hours on a snowy platform for a train, any train, to Paris. As happens, two arrived at once and we boarded the one which was subsequently further delayed in the station for an hour. I'm not getting into the 'valid ticket' discussion here - next time you see me ask me

Eventually arrived in Paris gare du Nord with 40 minutes to get to the stadium and ran the last 700m from the nearest metro station to the game with two suitcases and a 10 year old!

We left our hotel before 8am and got to the game at 3:03pm, just in time to see the first score of the match. There are some things that money can't buy... for everything else, there's Mastercard. ...

Thats a great story, we just gave up when everything went into shut down mode in Brussels

Our group survived the snow to get to Gatwick on Friday but then only made it as far as Ebbsfleet (probably the coldest train station in the world) on Saturday

Father and brother were two of the 17 who made it to the game. Father was the eejit wearing the Elvis chicken hat who couldn't spell "Ulster".
Unfortunately my Fiat 500 didn't make it out of snow bound Brussels, and instead we eventually fought our way back to Calais and endured the chaos of the M20 before arriving back on the Isle of Wight late evening.
Totally gutted at missing the game, but the chickens will live on in Bath on 23rd Jan.
