The trouble with referees is that they just don't care which side wins - Tom Canterbury.

One who has no been identified as the former secretary of the URSC had said very recently that they (the URSC) were seeking independance.

I also don't think just because MR made a statement first means it was his idea or doing. He may have been handed the decision and then made the announcement quickly himself first. Granted the timing seemed odd.
DB, I said in the original post that we were moving towards controlling our own affairs - this was with the support and encouragement of Mike Reid who clearly had enough on his plate without having to keep an eye on us. The issue is not about independence - it's about whether the club remains "official" or goes "unofficial".

I am sure Mike Reid would laugh at the thought of me or CT as "yes men".
As you weren't party to any of our discussions with UR, you are not in a position to justify such a comment. Ignorance sometimes has much to answer for!

to be honest TH - not too sure - but I know this

They were mightily drunk off - were on the TV every bloody day and made loads of noise. The Yank (name escapes me) made moves towards them. Mike Reid couldnt make moves towards himself

I smell a mutiny!

Only kidding. Gary mate before this turns ugly I have had no part any of the following:

1) Your comments under a different moniker
2) The URSC statement being discussed
3) The MR statement on the othe MB

So what is it you want me to justify? I am simply putting the comments together and trying to work out what is going on something I wouldnt have to do if you as a committee would have come out explained what was going on!
Since you are no longer on the committee I assume you dont now know whether there has been a split or not?

Le Paul - Malcolm Glasier (??) and sons took over Man U. but ''my understanding'' is that all the huffing and puffing by the supporters clubs achieved nothing - could be wrong.

Again ''my understanding'' is that season ticket purchases were still the same and threats of ''this and that '' came to nothing.

My French mustn't be as good as I thought!! Absolutely no offence intended. Think your postings are accurate and outspoken as they should be.

Sorry if my crap French has given offence. I was trying to be friendly and encouraging. This doesn't happen to me in Brittany!!

What about this for an idea.
The existing committee hires a venue, similiar to the AGM.
All of the vocal MB contributees attend along with any interested supporters, and take a vote on OFFICIAL or UNOFFICIAL. ( EVEN INDEPENDANT )
Draw up a new SIMPLE set of rules and regs.
Draw up a member list, and begin taking subs.
Arrange a monthly or bi weekly meeting.
And them go back to basics VENUE, TRAVEL and EVENTS.

THEN APPROACH Mike Reid to meet supporters on supporters terms.

ANY TAKERS?

THP - I wouldnt doubt you for 1 second - but - my point is this - the fact that the Man U sup club were UDI - meant that they could shout loud - shout hard and do whatever they wanted.

Unlike the vision that MR MICHAEL REID has of the URSC

They couldnt even issue a passing of wind without going to the great control freak and seeking his permission. That to me is a bridge way too feckin far.

A supporters club is a group of loyal folk - but not bleedin puppets. We come together to do what we do best - SUPPORT - not jump when we are told to nor bow down when we see the shadow of himself pass by.

My point was that a seriously independant supporters club can raise profile - right now - we couldnt raise a smile
