from bbc
Northampton Saints have confirmed that 12 players will be leaving Franklin's Gardens following the club's promotion to the Premiership.

The most high-profile departure is New Zealand scrum-half Mark Robinson.

First-team flankers Darren Fox and Paul Tupai, prop Chris Budgen and lock Christian Short are also on the move.

They are joined by Damien Browne, Simon Emms, Johnny Howard, Karl Rudzki and Ian Vass, plus senior academy members Barney Purbrook and David Smith.
Its worrying to think they are releasing some players of this calibre, and the fact is some of these guys arent even that old with possibly their best years ahead of them.
Darren Fox - 28
Damien Browne - 27

would love to see browne in an Ulster shirt and would provide real competiton in the squad, and if he was able to get back to his form a few years ago could still get an ireland cap.
Neil F wrote:Would be happy to see Cillian Willis in an Ulster shirt - the guy has the makings of a good scrum-half but the obvious worry is that if he develops to his potential then Leinster will want him back and we lose a player who we have helped to develop.
I share this worry and it would be the same if other fringe players came, eg Earls the moment Munsters kiwis left and there was a spot for him he would jump at the chance to go back, we have seen this with connaght so many times, players go there until a better offer arises.

Dont think Robinson would be beneficial, a similer player to boss and at 33, he wont bring much to us, apart from a big wage bill and he would hold up a foreign spot.

Why release so many players after gaining promotion? surly they cant be making that many new signings to cover the loses!

on another note i see the scarlets have signed David Lyons from the waratahs!

Chris Paterson will leave Gloucester at the end of the season to return to Edinburgh after just one season with the Guinness Premiership side.

The 30-year-old, who has been capped 86 times by Scotland, has been restricted to 17 appearances this season after his summer move south of the border.

looks as though a lot of magners sides are making strong signings for next season. EG, patterson to edinburgh, David Lyons to scarlets etc etc...
Hopefully with heiny in the bag we can puck up 1 or 2 more signings of the quality of BJ!

Newcastle releasing Matthew Tait and Toby Flood due to all 4 of their backs being away on international duty, Matthew Tait would be a good buy if we could afford him

Axel..... 30 October 1973 - 16 October 2016

LATEST ON DAN CARTER..........

Dan Carter and Frederic Michalak have been made head-spinning offers from cash-rich Pro D2 side Toulon, the club's president Mourad Boudjellal has admitted.

The fly-halves are the latest star names being enticed over to the club in the south of France by the money of Boudjellal, who has made his personal fortune in the comic-strip business.

Carter, the New Zealand superstar who is arguably the biggest draw in world rugby, is believed to have been offered 700,000 euros for a seven-month deal that would run from December 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.

700,000 FOR 19 GAMES..... about 37,000 per game

£37,000 per game............................WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Rugby's contracts have gone crazy!!!
You've got to get your first tackle in early, even if it's late.

There are some thing that you say that I don't agree with, but this
Have you slipped into a parallel universe? There’s reason he’s not getting much game time at Edinburgh.
He is nowhere near good enough for them or us.

A bit of the subject i know but what happened to henderson and frederiks, last time a looked on the web frederiks was playing for some Australian team who played in the equivalent of our AIL, but Henderson?

Back to topic i cant believe newcastle have released two england internationals, Tait would slot into any team, and flood can have moments of brilliance. This shows newcastles stupidity IMO , Why get rid of two young Guys with lots of potential, if we had these calibre of player we wouldnt care hows many times a year they weren't with us, we would still hold onto them like gold dust....Madness
