Saracens team - for Friday

Post by pwrmoore »

Don't know if it's official but this just went up on the Sarries site

A few injuries (or words to that effect) mean 2 hookers on the bench, but here we are:

Yates
Byrne
Visagie
Raiwalui
Chesney
Vyvyan
Ben T Russell
Skirving

Bracken
Jackson
Vaikona
Sorrell
Castaignede
Bailey
Scarbrough

Subs
Kyriacou
Broster
Cairns
Seymour
Dickens
Bartholomeusz
Ben J Russell
Paul.

Yup - that's the official team. It goes up on the (paying) members section on the official site for a short while before it's given to the rest of the world.

It is a bit of a surprise that we have two hookers on the bench, though. I guess that Cairns will cover the flank and Vyvyan will move up to the second row if need be.

Are you not thinking of "Galway Hookers"?

(and I'm not trying to drum up more travelling support for the Connacht match)

It's not exactly a side packed with big household names, but then I'm sure most Sarries fans wouldn't be too familiar with most of our players either.

There are but a few household names by design. Fans of other English clubs always saw Sarries as a bit of a joke as they had loads of famous players in the side an still couldn't win anything.

Steve Diamond has revolutionised the recruitment policy so that we have brought in international class players - Vyvyan, Scarbrough, Bartholomeusz, Yates - who have won only one or two caps and who are capable of forming a good team.

Hitherto it was a handful of superstars puntcuating a team of players not quite up to Premiership standard.
