IRPA Player of The Year

Post by cjp »

International Rugby Players Association player of the year is Daniel Carter, hard call as Mr Habana and Umanga have had superb seasons. IMO probalby better than the IRB player of the year as it was voted by his peers.

can't argue with that cj... whilst i think umanga and habana were certainly in the reckoning, carter showed that he had the full range of skills at his disposal to control a game... no mean feat for an international 10. helluva talent

who else was shortlisted? have you got a link for the awards?

McCaw,Matfield,Umaga and Habana were nominated.

NZ were team of the year just ahead of Wales, while Habana won new comer of the year ahead of Drew Mitchell and Sivivatu.

The IRPA Awards honour the world's rugby stars on an annual basis.

Voting for the Awards is carried out by players from the national squads of France, Ireland, Wales, England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

To ensure against bias and prejudice, players are not eligible to vote for a player in their own national squad. They must vote for players from another country.
