Crowd not especially interested in the game itself where Japan appear to be out-thought at present with Ireland attacking their strengths (line-out etc). Sexton trying his hand at Beauden Barrett-style passes and showing that perhaps it’s not his game. Lowe and Conway scoring tries earnt by the front 8 which Balacoune, Stockdale, Earls and Hansen could too…. Time to see if Japan have a Plan B whether Farrell will find that a different 16-23 might have been an idea. Still, keeps him in a job I suppose. Agree entirely. Not sure it really tells us much about how good Ireland will be v the ABs or in WC QFs. Enough to do Scotland, Wales and Italy at home next spring.

For the gamblers this week, bookies are giving 18pts on the handicap. I think they underestimate Japan - look how closely Japan ran Australia and that was after a long time together for the Aussies. Ireland have only just arrived in camp and will be all over the place. I'm taking the bet, I think Japan will run them close and maybe even give them a scare.

Let that be a lesson to you degenerate gamblers. Don't take tips off eeejits on the Internet! Japan were really not at the races at all today. They were very poor and leinster were really impressive. I wonder to what extent farrell had the right game plan to nullify japan or to what extent Japan just didn't show up. It might be a long road back into the team for ulster players.
