29 nil at H/T.

Best half under Andeh.

Lowe has been very prominent.

If there’s 38k here then they must be all in the bars. Crowd not especially interested in the game itself where Japan appear to be out-thought at present with Ireland attacking their strengths (line-out etc). Sexton trying his hand at Beauden Barrett-style passes and showing that perhaps it’s not his game. Lowe and Conway scoring tries earnt by the front 8 which Balacoune, Stockdale, Earls and Hansen could too…. Time to see if Japan have a Plan B whether Farrell will find that a different 16-23 might have been an idea. Still, keeps him in a job I suppose. Will it be possible enough ‘flair and invention’ to beat the AB’s ? They certain won’t miss as many tackles.

Great half time analysis on RTE by Ferris, Flannery and Heaslip. Flannery said Sexton should be taken off at half time and Harry Byrne brought on. Byrne is not in the 23. Ferris had the breaking news that the players not in the 23 were actually attending the match as spectators.
These guys actually get paid for this BS.

Japan really not at the match at all. Saturday afternoon housework is more interesting than this.
To be fair, Ireland haven't done much wrong and the score was a pretty fair reflection of the game.

Agree entirely. Not sure it really tells us much about how good Ireland will be v the ABs or in WC QFs. Enough to do Scotland, Wales and Italy at home next spring.

I think they underestimate Japan - look how closely Japan ran Australia and that was after a long time together for the Aussies. Ireland have only just arrived in camp and will be all over the place. I'm taking the bet, I think Japan will run them close and maybe even give them a scare.
Let that be a lesson to you degenerate gamblers. Don't take tips off eeejits on the Internet! Japan were really not at the races at all today. They were very poor and leinster were really impressive. I wonder to what extent farrell had the right game plan to nullify japan or to what extent Japan just didn't show up. It might be a long road back into the team for ulster players. Even hendy might be sweating.

Well, it’s a funny old game.

Jackman and Kinsella went for a 9 or 10 point Ireland win.

Sadlier said there was no chance that Lowe would play.

Looking ahead, there’s an argument to say that Farrell should start with the same fifteen next week.

Herring ought to be on the bench, if so.

You can say it was a facile win but Australia struggled against the Japanese a couple of weeks ago. I thought Ireland played very well.
Different proposition next week.

The way his team mates mobbed Johnny when he got his try shows the respect for him.

The match with two Ulster players involved was the best match of the lot. Coincidence? I think not! :fleg: :fleg:
