Looking at it from an Ulster bias point of view
Marty Moore and Nordi Murphy will never play in green again
John Cooney omitted by selection or injury?
Nick Timoney there on merit
Ross Molony is there, Alan O'Connor must be feeling extremely hard done by
Will Addison could do with the game time if nothing else, this also will use up his last match suspension, therefore will be available to play for Ulster at the start of the season if not returned broken

Other points of interest

No Cian Healy, Jonny Sexton or Keith Earls but PO'M is included. No room for Simon Zebo even though he has penned a return to these shores.
James Lowe has taken an almighty fall from grace.

No Eric O'Sullivan but Dooley and Byrne of Leinster included.
No James Hume or Michael Lowry.
Great chance to see youngsters like POM, John Ryan and Molony showing their ability against USA when players like Scott Penny sit at home.
If Cooney is not injured then this signals the end of his international xareer.

Andy Farrell says James Lowe, Eric O'Sullivan (shoulder), Gavin Thornbury (shoulder), John Cooney and Ross Byrne (ankle) missed out on the squad due to injuries

He does state that Harry Byrne, Billy Burns and Joey Carbery were his outhalf picks, regardless

I hope Cooney misses out because he's injured, not seen as surplus to requirements. On the other hand, I hope he's not injured.

He's injured still. From a certain challenge people were happy enough with.

Hume and Lowry called up?

Yeah saw that, hope his departure doesn't come back to haunt us like Seymour, he was an excellent U20s player. Tom Stewart seems to be struggling with injury a little.
