The UAFC

Lot of talk on Leinster web site re the FAI going belly up and allegedly owing €55m and perhaps putting their 42.5 % of the AVIVA up for sale if the RoI government not prepared to bail them out.How do you see this impinging on theIRFU and their finances.

Nearer home we must be grateful that the Ulster Branch successfully handled the PR, planning and implementation of the Kingspan rather than find themselves in the situation the UlsterGAA are in over Casement Park. Not only have they failed to get there new grounds built but they have managed to let the existing grounds become an useable jungle and run up spend of £33m if the press are correct.
On reflection it was quite an achievement that Ravenhill continued to function through out the rebuild.
Then we have Leinster with their Staduim at Donnybrook which is too small for the needs of the Leinster Senior team who find themselves as tenants of the RDS with the need to find a substantial sum for the redevelopment and probably to end up like the FAI as Junior Partners-in any new Stadium.
The Finances involving Munster’s two Staduim Are best left alone for now as they are another
Potential time bomb.
Whereas Connacht seem to be about to build a staged new stadium with in there means and perhaps more shelter from the elements.

My understanding is that the Govt cannot bail out the FAI as it would compromise FIFA/UEFA rules on Govt interference resulting in ROI not being permitted to play any games. However if the Govt don't do something and the result is that the ROI team and the League of Ireland cannot function the public ultimately will blame the Govt, incorrectly.

So some form of an Irish solution(dodgy) will most likely be found to a problem created by extremely dodgy practices and incompetence.

While the IFA look competent in comparison to the FAI... lets not kid ourselves that in absolute terms that makes them good at what they do!
