Can’t say I do but a pretty interesting story. Had to check it wasn’t April 1st when I read it!

Also doesn’t say a lot for the Academy at that time.

On the contrary, I think it does say a lot about our academy at the time.

Maybe your email came from the account of S Logan and so understandably got automatically sent to the Junk folder.

Can't be true - it says he got injured so UR did not give him a contract, that as we know is not the Ulster Way.

Give me your broken, your knackered, your huddled masses yearning for a contract....

I remember him appearing, holding his own in one match and then vanishing

Didn't sign the URSC caravan* when injured .... mustn't have been here.

If he was really injured at Ulster, he would have been with URSC at least once (and that's an incontrovertible fact!)

* The fact that URSC didn't have a caravan and still met in a tent with nothing to sign on match nights is neither here nor there . HONEST!

Vaguely the same.

But I couldn't have told you a thing about it till reading the article jogging my memory a bit.

I had actually thought it was around the time Brendan Williams made us look like a pack of eejits in Ravenhill - but after a bit of searching Walsh was on the scene a couple of years after that (and a different team obviously).

Seems like a lot less people remember this guy than those who made even less of an impact like Boys, Raaymakers, Mike McGuire and Andy Kershaw (although he was also memorable for being into World Music on Radio 1 before that term was even invented).

If only Neil Walsh had got that ciontract and gone and bought himself a farm.....

Kershaw had a partner, Juliette Banner.

In 2007, Kershaw was jailed for repeatedly violating a restraining order which required him not to contact her.

Kershaw was sentenced to three months' imprisonment in 2008 in the Isle of Man [tax dodgers' paradise] for breaching a restraining order. He was also given a suspended sentence.

One of the great progressive-liberal djs of world music.

PS Charlie Gillett got there before him with the world music.

Did they hang him?

It was the Isle of Man after all. They were rather slower to remove capital and corporal punishment from their statute books than most places.
