Job Title: Official Team Mascot
Role Purpose: To perform the duties of Official Team Mascot for Ulster Rugby, in costume, as Sparky the bear. Sparky is required to positively represent the Ulster Rugby brand whilst entertaining and engaging supporters of all ages.
Operational Manager: Ulster Rugby PR staff
Key Relationships: Ulster Rugby fans, Ulster Rugby players, Ulster Rugby match/event staff
Location: Kingspan Stadium; occasional travel to other venues for away matches or events is also required
Contract Type: Fixed term contract for the 2018-2019 season
Remuneration: A fixed event fee will be payable for each appearance
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet the crowds at all home matches at Kingspan Stadium
• Pose for photographs and videos
• Sign autographs
• Wave and interact with crowds
• Be animated and engage with children
• Help to generate an atmosphere pre-match
• Beat drum to music
• Accompany the mascots onto the field from the main tunnel
• Take part in any on-pitch sponsor activity when required
• Circle the pitch during the match and entertain the crowd during down time in play
• Pose for photographs at half time and full time
• Respect on-field practices and the laws of rugby
• Respect the identity and legacy of Sparky
• Respect and look after the costume
• Be available for all home matches (from when gates open), some away matches and external events when required
The duties and responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties to meet the needs of the organisation.

I know he started as a volunteer - when I saw this is kind of hoped that by the end there was some money slipped into his paw - but knowing UR probably not.

My understanding was that he had asked for some remuneration but did not get it. Bit of a slap in the muzzle.

I wonder when Sparky got the new suit did Cornerflag or UR for that matter register ownership of the sparky image? If not there could yet be a chance for the bear to get something from the deal.

I always disliked Sparky more than the band. I could never take him seriously after he exposed us to ridicule at Twickinghouse 2012 when Leo turned up in rugby boots & creased him in the kicking competition.
