Saw a Kingfisher for the first time last month. We were staying outside Cambridge where there was a stream running through the grounds; stunning colour.big mervyn wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 6:04 pmExcellent work sirtigerburnie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 3:26 pm I filmed this a couple of weeks back before all the rain arrived

I am still learning how to use this camera, it's a pro video camera( a Canon C100 mk ii for those interested) Light weight enough for me to carry about, not the latest 4k but shoots HD and will do for me. As for the Bill Oddie bit leave it out, my missus reckons I'm looking like a 6 foot 4 version of him on account of I need a hair cut lol A man can only take so much p1ss taking......................

Re: Big Merv's nature watch.
Thought I'd resurrect this thread with this. She's become a regular visitor to my back garden fence, usually after a missed hunt.

Nice one Cap’n.
So tonight there’s about 50-100 long-tailed mammaries, I think, in a tree outside the Post Office in town - High Street/Bridge Street.
Never seen the likes.

Re: Big Merv's nature watch.
One of my favourite birds. Quite often see flocks of 10 - 20 at my place but never seen quite that many before.
Biggest flock(or charm) I get would be 40-50 gold finches with a few chaffinches, green finches (and ocassionally the odd linnet or lessor redpoll) intermingled, but recently even their numbers are down to 10-15 at a time.

Re: Big Merv's nature watch.
Had 5 . . . yes FIVE robins eating out of my hand today.
Only managed to get the imings right on a couple of shots though. The shutter noise if pressed too soon scared them off, and if pressed too late caught them flying off with whatever they took from my hand. Still, 2 from 5 - 40% was a pass-mark when I was at school.

A five finger discount will get you plenty of robbings.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?
