Is not Payne then who is the best 13? Henshaw - doubt it; Joseph - nope; Tuilagi - f''@king hope not!; Davies - not same player since busted himself before world cup; one of the Scottish boys - maybe?

If we buy into the Payne greatest defensive organiser since Darren Cave myth / truth, given that the Lions are going to spend the whole tour defending against the sort of offloading / high paced / counter attacking rugby that is coming their way, then I think Payne would be a good shout in that channel

But of course, my opinion doesnt matter a damn!

Bring back BOD!

Halfpenny coming back into contention as well don't forget.

Payne might not go as first choice 15 or 13 but it's his ability to do both to an international standard that may appeal.

Brown two seasons ago was up there but in stark contrast to the rest of the England side his form has declined since.
At the minute he wouldn't go but if he finds the form he had he would have a chance.
Limited because unlike the other 15s he can only play there.

Versatility goes a long way in selection on these tours.
It offers more bench options and covers tour injury more satisfactorily rather than having to bring a tour outsider up to speed.

The schedule is ludicruous but they're more upset at not getting the same deal for player release that they do with the RFU

It's a ludicrous schedule and ludicrously good teams to be playing against. Based on how the Super Rugby sides played this season, a thrown-together Lions side would struggle to beat any of them...

Official then, Gatland to lead the Welsh pussycats sorry British Lions to NZ, expect more average Welshmen to get caps with a very average Captain Bread to lead....

Lions will get dicked so it doesn't really matter. Gatland is a clown, it wouldn't be too much of a surprise to see a 10-0 record on the way.
