Burn a few MP's or MLA's if available, high calorific value due to full of gas and too much feeding at taxpayers cost.Russ wrote:I live in a very cold place. Bend in the river and lots of tall buildings creating funnels

Think I'm gonna risk the possibility of running out of oil over Xmas and survive on nice log/coal fires and (if necessary) electric heater and staying occasionally at other folks houses until early January 2015 when oil should be even cheaper. Good idea or bad idea? Discuss.

Time to revive this thread. I have about 1/4 of a tank left. Think I am going to sit this out and not refill tank until the war is over. Good idea, bad idea?

If 1/4 tank will last a couple of months.HwoodMike2umate wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 8:30 am Time to revive this thread. I have about 1/4 of a tank left. Think I am going to sit this out and not refill tank until the war is over. Good idea, bad idea?
Don't think war will be over, but supply should ease and I don't see how HMRC can justify not dropping VAT a bit (but nobody wiĺl ask them to).
Went for 400l this week working on that assumption.
Delivery company were doing 500l max, paid in advance and I suspect, only to existing customers. They're in the same boat guessing the future and working at or beyond their credit limits.

One of the unmentioned problems with the supply is that some suppliers claim they only have small quantities of oil and will therefore only supply a maximum of 2 or 3 hundred litres rather than the larger amount you actually need. The price differential is quite large. I was actually told by one supplier that I could have 300 litres tomorrow and phone for another 300 litres after a couple of days. That would have cost almost £50 more than ordering at the price for 600 litres not including any price rises in the interim.HwoodMike2umate wrote:Time to revive this thread. Got 500l for £309 a couple of weeks ago just before the balloon went up and thought that was a bit steep! Need a bit off global warming to kick in soon.
