Pottering in the garden so no plans for the pub for me but do plan to consume between noon (15 minutes still to wait) and kick off in Leinster v Connacht a 2 litre jar of Old Rosie cider ( Tesco’s £5).

Haven’t done homebrew beer or wine in ages. Does seem a shame just to stick the jars in the recycling bins at Tescos ( K’nagoney). I get through at least one Old Rosie a week so if anyone here wants to pick them up I can leave them out. I am approx two minutes from Tescos. Heading there now to restock on Old Rosie for Easter.

Plan to head down on the free Metro bus from Knocknagoney today to the just opened Bullhouse East bar at the Arches for a nice pint of Ale in the outdoor beer yard.

Report back Mike as I won’t be able to try it for a couple of weeks.

I’ll be interested to know how much they’re asking for a pint. Are you going to BYO?

Also have they followed through on their promise of a proper hand pulled cask ale?

Well it was only me there at 2.30pm so enjoyed a nice pint in the sun with the patio area ( which will be a sun trap all summer) to myself until another guy came along. Didn’t seem to be any hand pumps. Nice place, East Belfast has too few decent bars. Only downside was it was like Ravenhill No cash accepted, gotta pay by card. 20 different taps but didn’t see any hand pumps . A few pints at under £5 but most slightly over. Barman recognised me from the East Terrace

How much energy did the vehicle use in both journeys, would it have been more efficient to have found your way to a Glider, or used a Fiat 500 ...........petrol version?
Respective costs would also be intetesting...........

I'm going to Ahoghill on Saturday. The price of drink in the Diamond is always a pleasant surprise after Belfast. Likewise the pubs in Derry.

Bobbievee… sadly no Glider near Knocknagoney. The 3a and 3b Metro buses go from Knocknagoney terminus into Belfast via the Bullhouse East bar at the Arches.

Slightly off topic but i should point out that the 3B Metro is quicker than the 3A because the 3A winds it’s way through Sydenham and is useful if you want to get onto the train at Sydenham station.

Had a couple of pints in Bullhouse East today.

I stuck to the Sour Suzy, a Berliner Weisse, from a Norwegian brewery.

Very refreshing with a lemony flavour.

By today’s standards, it was good value at four and a half quid a go.

Some German beer tonight at Oktoberfest at CHS.

It was surprisingly entertaining and busy , probably cos the students were in for free on a Thursday.

Decent band on who ensured the Culchies had a few to
join in with.

Left them to it at ten and went to Pizza Punks.

Massive queue outside by then including an Ulster back. Another was in there already.

The Middleton will last a bit longer
