Dave wrote:Steyn can play flyhalf, centre, fullback, wing and probably 6. He's certainly big enough. Having a boot like his at 12 would be ideal for any young 10. We can dream.

At 31 I'd say he would be labelled a talent blocking mofo. Maybe Leinster are signing him to replace Joey.
I don't think he would be seen as talent blocking as he isn't a specialist 10- his ability to play across the backline would help no end as he could play alongside any of the academy backs [plus we could sign him as centre and then play him at 10 as needed ].
Not saying I expect him to come but the sort of signing we could with.

Are we expecting anymore coaches? Seems Pienaar's family have moved back to belfast the day of Top14 final. Anyone fluent in french, does that article remark that Steyne's moving to Ireland also?
wow! Yes it says that Pienaar’s family never settled over there and have moved back to Belfast - and that Steyn’s family has also moved to Ireland, because they haven’t settled in France.. so Ruan and Steyn have apparently rented a small house together...

And Altrad seems to be suggesting that this caused Pienaar’s poor performance on Saturday, and is openly wondering whether the new arrangement will work out!!

All seems a bit strange, you get the feeling that there’s more going on there than meets the eye...
Sounds like the Afoas again

Presumably after Scotland complete their summer tour.

Interesting times. Does that mean everything is wonderful, being here is heavenly? Maybe.....

Has the FIRFU/SRU blinked yet? Or is it all quiet with our head coach?

Maybe we should have gone for Danny Wilson. HC experience, turned a team of Daves into trophy winners. Was available immediately.

Feel free to discuss.

He seemed to do a good job with Cardiff and whilst going to Wasps he couldn't turn down the opportunity to move up to International level.... and presumably would come without compensation something that UR seem to specialise in.. compensating that is.

Come he undoubtedly will but still far from an ideal situation that he will be coming here only when Scotland finally decide to let him whether that be after the tour or into next season. Anyone clarify the Soper situation in terms of what his role will be elsewhere with his club and how that is likely to work in lead up to weekends with both his teams playing..

He certainly managed to get a shift out of Big Nick, who most of us had consigned to the knacker's yard.

If he'd come to us, he could look forward to the prospect of working with an international captain who might actually play once or twice in a season.

I've asked the question and got a nothing response along the lines of

Ulster dont train Tuesday and Thursday evenings and most games dont clash

Never wrestle with a pig. You end up covered in muck and the pig loves it.
