tbh I'd be happy with a drop to the PP Cup. I really think we could win the thing.

Clermont have fallen off a cliff since recent years. Empty seats at Marcel Michelin too. Who is their defence coach?

Good game was that.

Plenty of footage of Jono Gibbes looking befuddled too.

Bath Toulon in Parker Pen postponed today due to the river breaking its banks and flooding the Rec.

Now being played at Gloucester tomorrow with fans allowed.....

Sale will need something from the game next week to make top 8. Well beaten in the end by Toulouse, red card for Wiese didn't help.

Find myself in a bit of a quandry over Sale game and I suspect I am not alone. I feel the praise heaped on Sale for their home win over travel wrecked Ulster was unjustified and for that reason I would like to see them smashed next Saturday. A win would help Ulsters reformation and it would help them in the long term but realistically a run in the Challenge Cup is also attractive.
However could battling on two separate fronts be too much and lead to failure.
I know that in some quarters Rory Best’s comments were not appreciated but his joy in seeing the team coming together to celebrate on the field when they put one over on LAR on the pitch was something all supporters must have felt.
Given the choice of the voice of doom Ferris or the joy of Best I know which I would prefer.

Trimble is great. He can actually speak in words which helps. He always injects a bit of humour too.

Clermont didn't waste time, Gibbes sacked this morning. Jared Payne in charge for the Stormers game this weekend.

Clermont rotating heavily for the trip to the stormers which aids our qualification chances.

Payne gets the game in Cape Town, then Urios takes over next week when they return from South Africa. Clermont on 6 points, so a standard Ulster win gets them above ASM. If the French get a LBP, then Ulster need max points, if they get 2 match points, Ulster can't catch them bar a massive turnaround in the points difference (Clermont -12, Ulster -50).

Stormers v Clermont at 5:30pm UK Time on Saturday, so Ulster will know how the land lies etc.

That Ospreys win at Tigers was interesting, long old game. Tigers could have secured a home game in R16, still might mind etc.

Lyon stuffed Bulls, Racing 92 have dropped into Challenge Cup spots, need to win in Dublin to get back into top 8.

In Challenge Cup, good night for Connacht, Glasgow drew and Toulon didn't get all 5 points v Zebre. As things stand, they will have home game as long as they don't lose by more than 9 v Newcastle with zero match points, 2 match points get them 3rd and 5 points gets them 2nd minimum.
