What are you reading?

Re: What are you reading?
Just read Lion Man - Ian McGeechan. Good, easy read.
Curretly reading 'Attack State Red' - which, at the halfway point is one of the best books around about Afghanistan IMHO. Goes into more detail via personal accounts (over 300 interviews taken by members of the Battalion) of the events covered in Ross Kemps first Afghan documentary series. Full of drama, personal sacrifice, humour, bravery and loss.

At least some good became of your Brussels trip brownerbrowner wrote:"A little history of the world"..by E M Gombrich.
History "lite"...puts all those names and events you've heard of into order and context without melting your head.
Thanks to Foyle's bookshop in St Pancras.

Re: What are you reading?
I don't think after all this time that Reading is going to respond to the question, "What are you Reading?"
Allow me: -
Reading is a town in England with a football team better than Liverpool's

I'm not arguing -

Re: What are you reading?
Liverpool is a town in England with at least two football clubs.
However, and to keep on topic - I have just been reading the post above.

there's also tranmere rovers (birkenhead) who along with (the mighty reds and the toffee stars) make up the 3 professional teams based in liverpool.cables wrote:Liverpool is a town in England with at least two football clubs.
then there's all of the amateur clubs - they might be small, but they matter!
but hey, by saying at least two, you're not wrong!

Tranmere Rovers is in Birkenhead as you have rightly pointed out, which is not in Liverpool. Thats like saying Lisburn Distillery are a Belfast team.

Salford is a city in its own right, but it is also part of the district of Greater Manchester.
Birkenhead is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral in Merseyside.

Lisburn is a city in its own right but it is also part of the Greater Belfast area (ask the government planners), also known as the Belfast Metropolitan Urban Area.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater_BelfastGreater Belfast (Irish: Mórcheantar Bhéal Feirste) is an area surrounding and including Belfast in Northern Ireland. It includes Belfast and parts of the North Down, Lisburn, Castlereagh and Newtownabbey district council areas

In that case, saying Tranmere are a Liverpool team is like saying Ballymena United are a Belfast team!!

Re: What are you reading?
tranmere are widely accepted as liverpool's 3rd team
might be on the wrong side of the mersey but they're as close to albert docks as either liverpool fc or everton are.
ballymena utd example is a bit skewed, it's like calling shorts a belfast rugby team.

The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld
This was on the Richard & Judy reading list, though that isn't the reason I bought it. Set in New York 1909, it is described as being about Freud's only visit to America, however the majority of the book surrounds several other characters. Essentially it becomes a murder mystery, with lots of twists and turns. I have to admit that I did get a bit lost towards the end about who exactly was doing what and why, but for the most part I enjoyed it. Not sure I'd rush out and recommend it though.

Generation A by Douglas Coupland, the last couple of Couplands books have been poor, but he's back on form with this one!

Re: What are you reading?
Joseph Wambaugh "The New Centurions" a fictional account of the LAPD in the 60's. On a par with his others "The Blue Knight", "Choirboys", "Hollywood Station" etc. He's the Daddy of police themed crime novels. Gritty, black humoured, controversial....Highly recommended, if you like that sort of thing
