Tbh while the staff and manager are pretty dead on and always try to accomadate the rugby viewers, none of them are themselves rugby fans - so while they're happy to stick the rugby on, they don't get that excited about it. And generally there are only a handful of people in for most Ulster matches - if a dozen people or more came in regularly for Ulster matches, then you could make a case for them sticking it on the big screen and putting the sound on, until then you can't really blame them for sticking it on in the back bit with no sound..

Yeah, O'Neills tend to play it by ear, so to speak, whether they put the sound on or not.

There has only been one time that I can remember that they haven't put a televised Ulster game on, and that was when one of their Sky boxes was on the blink and international football was on at the same time.

When it comes to putting the sound on, it depends how many people are watching the game and how many other punters are in the pub. I've been there when only 2 people have been watching the Ulster game, but there haven't been many other people around , so they have put the sound on. Or if there is a big crowd watching an Ulster game (Ulster v Leicester in the HEC was the last big crowd I can remember), they have put the sound on even though the rest of the pub was very crowded as well.

yep it's the same owner and staff as before, they're in the process of doing it up, but stuck the rugby up as usual last week for Mike and I!

Fair play to Philomena's (previously O'Neills) on Great Queen St as they have a number of Ulster flags around the bar and a couple of signed framed Ulster jerseys on the wall.

I've recently moved to London and am looking for somewhere to watch the match on Saturday. I know that Philomema's has been mentioned, but that may be a bit far to convince some of the more fairweather fans amongst us!

The O'Neills in Islington says that it's showing it, but slightly concerned that with the Liverpool match on at the same time, they may not have commentary. Just wondering if any of you gents may know if it's a decent spot or not?
