AOC is looking a shadow of his former self in his two games so far. He was very poor in the 2nd half last night, missed a lot of tackles and looked slow and lethargic in general.

Been saying it for years. An honest grafter and a nice guy but always gets found out (along with others) against the better teams. If we had have gotten another top 2nd row signing to go along with Ewers and Kitschoff we'd have the makings of a decent pack to build around. Hendo never there, Treadwell blows hot and cold and the rest either not high enough quality or raw.

AOC is a great servant and all, but he's also the perfect representation of why Ulster never win things. Ultimately the guy would struggle for a game at any other province but he's a mainstay of our pack.

The bloke literally won the best tackler in the league award in May 22.

Not his fault that Hendy has spent more time on the sofa over the last few years than your average Ulster fan or that our overseas second row recruitment has been questionable.

It’s conceivable that there’s not much left in the tank and he even looked a bit weary leading the time out last night.

We ought to see a bit more of Hendy this season and there’s finally a couple of young lads coming through.

Sheridan, Hopes and Irvine give us some talent that'll we'll hopefully get 2 at least from. Been here before though- most recently Caldwell, and a couple of lads over the last decade of which big things predicted but never kicked on or werent given a chance. AOC only got his through a raft of injuries, ditto Sheridan I think. Sheridan looks a player, and ar*y with it thank god.

Agree with the sentiment on here.

No shame getting a LBP in Galway, especially with the side we picked. Real heart and guts display in defence for 60mins, although started to tire towards the end.

It wouldn't be an Ulster game without a few brainfarts, and McIlroy's pass and McCann's offside top the list. I've had McCann on my sh!t list since his tackle attempt on Baird last season but fair play to him, he was an absolute beast (idiotic pen aside). Starting to finally see what all the hype is about. Sheridan looking strong again and our scrum was solid. Hume looking back to his best, which is great. Please dear God DMcF, start Sheridan next week, and don't drop him for no reason until April 24. A starting Ulster pack containing Ulstermen Big Licence, Stewart, Sheridan and McCann, against the Turnips would make me so happy after the last decade we've had to endure of Leinster cast offs and foreign journeymen.

But its another game that was there for the winning and we couldn't get over the line.

Don’t think Sheridan will make it as an international lock, he lacks size and genuine lineout ability, but may be an option as a 6. He could be this generations Roger Wilson.

McCann if he continues his form could well make the Irish squad within 12 months. He played Prendercast off the park last night. Made one big error with the offside, but if anything that’s on Doak. He’s too bloody slow at those box kicks. All he is doing is giving the opponent enough time to compose & prepare himself to contest a high ball.
