Him and McCann, great to see some young gritty no nonsense forwards.
Never thought I'd see it again in my lifetime but could we have another potential all Ulster born back row like Ferris, Wilson Best and McMillan in the making? McCann, Rea, Sheridan, one from McNabney or Crothers. Dare to dream :bounce: >bud :D

I like Jake too, was wondering why he was left out of the squad last week, but he seemed to be the spare back in the warm up and had his leg heavily strapped. Curious to see who McFarland is going to regard as first choice, don't think it's clear cut at the minute.

I’m sure young Flannery will get rewarded for an excellent performance tonight by being dropped from the 23 entirely next week.

It’s the McFarland way.

If jake keeps this up he deserves a crack at his old teammates next week. We know what burns ceiling is, let's see what flannerys is.

The pack has fronted up so far. Not enough scrums to expose French. Rea the lesser hasn't had hands like t*TS and the rest including the youngsters have had stormers in the forwards.
Shanners efficient with good ball and Flannery excellent, Moore and Hume solid. McElroy pretty solid too and Sexton/ Moxham not yet exposed due to good covering drift defence and flooding the breakdown.

40 more minutes and I'll happily eat humble pie.

Very pleasantly surprised by the performance as a whole. Whisper it quietly, but Shanahan has had a decent first 40 too. He gets much stick in these parts, but in terms of third choice 9's we could do a lot worse.

No idea where McCann's step up in form has come from, but he's gone from looking 'ok' last year to our best player over the first three rounds. Duane who?

Starting to wish I’d gone now.

You’d have seen plenty of my boyish good looks.
