21 yr old Sale scrum half Raffi Quirke, Irish grandparents, capped twice by Jones last cap 20th November 2021. Would be a shrewd signing.

IQ - 20th November 2024

One season deal. 2023 Super Rugby final is the end of June..... that's Irish qualified Freddie Burns.

With Madigan and Flannery contracts not renewed for next year we'll need to recruit.

Been a rumour for a while. Makes sense for both and he'd probably be a cheap upgrade on Carter.

This would be a good bit of business. Roux same style of player as Carter, if he is still at level of performance as he was at Connacht he may be a slight upgrade.

Roux well known for his scrummaging. Ewers also apparently. See where this is going.....

Also means we still have an NIQ slot free :stir:

Heard that a few times now, Murray's not a bluffer so would say it has legs. Good signing imo.

Someone with decent connections with the rounder ball told me on Saturday that Stockdale was locked on for a move to France in the near future. Likely rubbish but makes a reasonable amount of sense after the contract decision.

I'd say rubbish. He's still young enough and will want to play for Ireland

This will be the end of Cooney as an ulster player if it happens. Wonder if he has been told he can go to France and still play for Scotland? Would be a deal clincher I reckon.

He's different from a Cooney or even McCloskey in that he'll know that if he regains form he'll be back in the setup.

So get Cooney to sign an extension now whilst still Irish qualified and then he can play for Scotland thereafter.
You couldn't legally write into a contract you're only allowed to represent Ireland.
Cooney is 33 yrs old come May.

It would be an absolute disaster if Cooney leaves. He's looked after himself well and would have a few seasons left in him.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

Cooney owes us nothing, he should follow his ambitions. Fair fecks to him if he goes.

While I'd love Cooney to stay, Ireland have not played fair by him so, if he can get to the World Cup with Scotland, whi woulddeny him the chance... except whatever Scottish 9 he's pushing out.

Are the two incompatible? Play for Scotland and remain with Ulster.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!
