Lost an eye later in life, I believe. Did he play at all after he lost the eye?
Re: And today, joining the underground .....
Lost the eye in a car crash in 1972 Solids did play on after that but he of course was never as good, he admitted that himself. Had to sell his world cup medal to help his kids education, different generation of players to the nancyboys of today.

A lot of guys in that era and before fell on hard times after their glory days. Sad.

I see Andrew Preview .... I mean, André Previn has off shuttled this coil mortal
Something like that ... it's the right words, just not necessarily in the right order.
A decent spud - Always knew how to conduct himself.

Keith Flint and Luke Perry today then.
Not the greatest exponents of their respective arts but not that much older than me either!

Dunno. I thought Keith was quite innovative and a standout performer. The wife's uncle Gerry met him in a sweet shop in Newcastle. Had a good yarn despite being 40 ears his senior.justinr73 wrote:Keith Flint and Luke Perry today then.

Same here Justin, that’s what makes it all the more shocking.justinr73 wrote:Keith Flint and Luke Perry today then.

Flint was fab though, didn’t really watch Perry even back in his 90210 days.

Some reports suggesting Freddie Starr has joined the underground movement (or lack of), but nobody seems to be absolutely certain.
Very funny guy, and wildly unpredictable which made those around him scared witless. Genius with a bit of madness driving that.
I once saw 4 guys who could easily have played second row walking down Great Victoria Street, apparently in 2x2 formation, but when I got closer, Freddie was in tight the middle of them. He was staying in the Europa Hotel and these were his minders - he really was tiny.

Says something about his character that he needed 4 goons that size to mind him.Cap'n Grumpy wrote:Some reports suggesting Freddie Starr has joined the underground movement (or lack of), but nobody seems to be absolutely certain.

Was at the height of the troubles (so possibly not the best idea to stay in the Europa), but maybe just a bit nervous about coming to Belfast at a time when very few "big"acts came?big mervyn wrote:Says something about his character that he needed 4 goons that size to mind him.Cap'n Grumpy wrote:Some reports suggesting Freddie Starr has joined the underground movement (or lack of), but nobody seems to be absolutely certain.
