The best person is out there, unfortunately they will pick the right person.

But the fact we didn't hear a peep from Shane Logan was the major accusation levelled at him.BaggyTrousers wrote:It must be a rugby man, nothing is more important. Wise words too from Snipe, when do you ever hear Mick Dawson holding court at Leinster, he's been there twice as long as Slogan & you seldom if ever hear a bloody word out of him.
Finally, I'm afraid Kofi is probably right, he usually is.
To me a CEO is a person who has an eye for picking the best people and putting them in the right positions, letting the get on with it and backing them.
They need to have the minerals to stand up to d4 and the acumen to handle them.
I don't need to hear them or see them but just someone who is not interested in self promotion but only in the interest of the club.
Integrity and trust needs to be established.
I think Ulster should appoint a unicorn.

May I suggest the individual needs to have a bit of the cute hoorism about them, that i have no doubt, is abundant in the other provinces. The amount of politicking going on down there in D4 would probably put 'Yes Minister' to shame. Do you think the staff of D4 are working for the greater good of Irish rugby or do you think some of their decisions are tainted by their bias for their home province? Would they be put under pressure from the appartachiks in their own province, being an inside man? How many Ulstermen are down there involved with the decisions being made? I'll have to do a bit of digging, can anybody point me in the right direction?Liz Fraser wrote:But the fact we didn't hear a peep from Shane Logan was the major accusation levelled at him.BaggyTrousers wrote:It must be a rugby man, nothing is more important. Are the powers-to-be going to make the wrong decision again? I assume the "best person" is well known in UR circles and will be knowingly passed over?Kofi Annan wrote:The best person is out there, unfortunately they will pick the right person.

Plenty about with the minerals to stand up to D4, but not many about with the acumen to get what Ulster needs whilst avoiding alienating themselves and UR even further. This to me is key, maybe we need a mexican with influence

Mary McAleese for CEO!
Always ask yourself, "What would Big Rodney do"... And every time the answer is... "Eat It"

We should at least be talking to her

Is there a rugby equivalent of Peter Ridsdale?
He has been tremendous at PNE as, officially, the adviser to the owner (he's still banned from being a Director I believe).
Hit the headlines at Leeds but has clearly amassed a lot of knowledge over the years.
We now have a squad worth millions that was assembled for peanuts and everyone who meets him seems to speak very highly of him.

Aye... lead us right into the proverbial Dardanelles...UlsterNo9 wrote:New CEO - What do you want
1. A leader Churchill style - not a gormless soft spoken smiler
You employ specialist coaches (and considerable expense) to run the rugby operations. Let them do their job. If you don't trust them to do the job, then remove them and replace them with someone you do trust.

Hmmmm, that sounds a bit like Logan, get rid of those who might undermine youAmiga500 wrote:Aye... lead us right into the proverbial Dardanelles...UlsterNo9 wrote:New CEO - What do you want

If I'm gonna have to stand over anyone's performances - then if I don't think they are up to it - I will want them removed.Rooster wrote:Hmmmm, that sounds a bit like Logan, get rid of those who might undermine you
If Les Kiss had won us the league this year, would this discussion be occurring? Logan appointed head coaches (and coaching teams) over his time here, ultimately his decisions for which he carries the responsibility of failure.

Do Carlsberg do CEOs?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!
