Had a look at the first few pages to see who I had offended and I must say to Horslips, sorry I was ever so slightly OTT there.

However, I picked up a classic from Solids which given the performance last Thursday may be an essential for the season. Adapting it slightly, after a desperate hour with no semblance of a passing move never mind a try, I shall arise from my seat in the Memorial, issue a loud, "Ahem" & break into:

We're all off to Tescos
We're all off to Tescos
They've dead chape beer
Better than the muck here
We're all off to Tescos
We're all off to Tescos
They've dead nice fish
I'm through with this pish.

La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da
This is a farce
Wish I hadn't bother mearse.
Here's me season ticket
You don't even need to nick it
This is a farce
Wish I hadn't bother mearse.

A wee toe-tapper I think I can safely vouchsafe.

I can see by the third week we could get the entire populace of the Memorial Stand sauntering out gonga fashion.

If it doesn't catch on I think I shall take sousaphone lessons to troll the performances https://www.google.es/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... Z6NrqSOCkA
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Still having some Red, Green'n'Black in my veins, I'm always tempted to break into a chorus of ...
Bless them all
Bless them all
The long and the short and the Tall
Bless all the forwards and half backs and backs ...

But it kinda falls down on the Half Backs line, AS WE DON'T FECKIN HAVE ANY!

Re the Memorons, I think I'll use my iPhone headphones and listen to Gusher's commentary on the Beeb. This not only blots out the morons, but gives me a laff at Gusherisms. Sure the wifi is great.

I must state that I find respect for the kicker an absurd oxymoron to be honest .
Do you show respect for a player under an up n'under - like hell you do every voice on the terrace is trying unnerve the sad barsteward in the hope he'll drop it or knock-on . So why give a penalty kicker respect - when 50% of the time the penalty can be the result of gamesmanship or bad refereeing .

Ireland and Ulster are possibly the only places this practice is adhered to like a religious rite .

To some respect the silence can. Be unnerving and not what the kicker wants because it enforces the fact that n number of eyes are focused him and possibly 90% hope you miss .

As for the view from the memorial Stand many of the gaps are an illusion because there is little perception of depth or distance and therefore how quickly the gap can disappear. But the one thing you do see quickly is how often players run towards the corner flag instead of straight down the pitch and leave the wings no space to beat their opposite number ( 9times out of 10)

The other disadvantage you have discovered ,if you are unfortunate enough to have a season ticket beside a bunch of morons you going to have bite you tongue all season because they never change their conduct, and have no interest in trying to improve their knowledge or understanding of the game before giving their opinions on this forum.

You're absolutely right Rumn, although oxymoron is strictly speaking, probably not the correct term. An anachronistic incongruity is perhaps better.

That aside, it's a tradition that is worth keeping imo. Likewise, applauding the opposition on to the pitch and showing similar respect when they score are gestures which do us some small credit and are worth preserving.

A sousaphone is just a f*cked up tuba.

respect before and after the game is a must .
Acknowledging success after a score or successful kick is different than and to what is being demanded which is like opening the gates to the enemy before a fight or during a siege .

But it is a tradition and to many are being lost in this day and age .
