Something of a dilemma for me Brother Rooster, I think if an enquiry is to be worthwhile it needs to ask the difficult questions of everyone involved. That said, I regard firefighters as the most heroic of people, people who run into fires whilst others are running out as fast as their legs will carry them.

However, should the enquiry find fault with any individual fireman, that should not diminish anyone’s view of them as a group, nor indeed of that individual, it may simply mean that some poor sod in a leadership role may have come up against a situation he had not encountered, nor been prepared or trained for, or in which he could reasonably have thought he was doing the right thing.

But if there are lessons to be learned then nobody is above the need for them to come out.
