I will be out of my orthopedic boot by then but still not up to top speed.

Went to a bullfight in the Costa Brava Baggy - have read Death in the Afternoon and what have you.

In footballing terms, it was a bit like watching Yeovil v Stevenage in League 2 with all the associated (lack of) glamour.

Not quite a goalless draw but more like a scrappy one nil to the bullfighter.

I didn't enjoy it but i ate steak afterwards nonetheless.

These days, i readily sing along to the Morrissey song below but largely because it has got a nice tune:

"The Bullfighter Dies"

Mad in Madrid
Ill in Seville
Lonely in Barcelona
Then someone told you and you cheer

Hooray, hooray
The bullfighter dies
Hooray, hooray
The bullfighter dies
And nobody cries
Nobody cries
Because we all want the bull to survive

Gaga in Málaga
No mercy in Murcia
Mental in Valencia
Then someone tells you and you cheer

Hooray, hooray
The bullfighter dies
Hooray, hooray
The bullfighter dies
And nobody cries
Nobody cries
Because we all want the bull to survive
Time was I'd be with you on that Lionel, however as most know, Morrisey has just become what he raged against for decades, an utter self-centred selfish cu'nt with some seriously racist views - aka a huge disappointment.

I no longer wish bullfighting to be banned, having taken refuge in their wonderful country from the curse of Tory/DUP rule, it's not for me to lecture my hosts, and when they allow me, fellow Spaniards, to decide how to spend their leisure time & sporting euros. I've never been, doubt I ever will, as someone who read everything Hemingway ever wrote, I could never catch his affection for the scrap in the plaza de toros.

I visited the bullring in Sevilla outside of working hours, pretty stunning looking from the outside, a golden stretch of sand in the arena but I could do without a dose of the nobbies sitting on the brick benches.

Anyway, yeah, we all want the bull to survive.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Only about 30% of Spaniards support bullfighting. Attendances are at an all time low.

Could have done without the amateur boxing on our row, but it was quite entertaining last night.

A bit wet on the walk home mind.

The amateur stuff was probably more entertaining than some of the stuff in the ring!

Saw the Fury and Frampton fights. Not vintage stuff tbh.

Ex Tropical Storm Ernesto certainly dropped some proper rain last night.

The fights were pretty clear cut who had won them even to a casual viewer, took Fury a while to get into the swing of things but his opponent soon started to get tired.
Frampton was calm and pretty clinical, he would have knocked his man out of it had continued, wise decision on his behalf to chuck in the towel before it got messy.

The atmosphere was great, but I couldn't see a whole lot from my seat especially when the wee fellas were in the ring Barnes and Frampton really are tiny.

Something on bakebook about a bit of a fracas in the Memorial stand on Saturday as well.
