Its a very promising start. However I thought for the first few weeks it might be easiest for most folk to have the opportunity to learn just ONE word in Irish each week but already folk are posting up what would appear to be useful phrases. That is encouraging but for the benefit of those of us (like me) who aren't fluent in the lingo and whose limit of Irish is currently saying "Slainte" when drinking, then it would probably be useful if folk, when posting here, put up the English translation of their favourite words/expressions. Slainte

Aye. I've toyed with the idea of learning a bit of Irish but most of the non-English speakers I run into have Spanish, French or German so I've tried to learn a bit of those.

The spoken is difficult and the written is an absolute pig of a concept to even think about when you are more than 4 years old and not using it daily.
Also wouldn't use Mandarin if you are in Hong Kong or you will get below average service and the worst rooms available, Cantonese gets you immediate room upgrades at the desk without even asking.

So are the official documents and the radio shows. It's well worth spending a few quid on for the comedy value.
