Oh dear must stop drinking then.

Post by BaggyTrousers »

I assume all posters are reassessing their attitude to the Devil's Buttermilk after some feckin' crackpot representing the Government issued new advice.

My concerns are as follows:

1) I can only drink the same amount as a 7 stone woman
2) If I have more than 14 units a week (I often don't  ) then the risk of dying from alkie related death becomes 2.4 times greater than dying in a road accident
3) Are these people serious FFS, this is the sort of nonsense is exactly the way to make people completely ignore the recommended advice, rather than being simply cynical.

The day, I've consumed a pint of lager half a bottle of white wine, and a couple of bottles of strong beer. Units so far - about 11.

Wtf am I going to do for the rest of the week

Is anybody going to pay the slightest bit of notice to this nonsense?

I thought not.

Nope, they specifically say no hoarding of units and better to drink little 3-4 times a week than one blattering session.

Tomorrow I am meeting one of my oldest friends in Belfast, he's back from 15-20 years in that hole London, hence we have only met about 3 times in that period, having been best mates for 25 years, so unquestionably we will be rubbered, 14 units will be totally inadequate.

I have no fecks to give about thir advice.

Have a late start and drink 14 units before midnight. Sunday is the start of a new week and so you can then safely drink another 14. :thumleft:

I must say, I've never bought into Sunday being the first day of the week, Monday for me too.

Who drinks for their health

But here 's to his Health as some say

The fact is we are all going to die some time how when where

Nobody knows and no health freak PC spokesperson can change that fact .

but we can say you might live x years longer but we don't have nurses to change your incontinent pants .

Thanks

Are you going for the full month OAK? An admirable pursuit. I normally dry out fora week or two post new year but then ultimately feel refreshed, rejuvenated and increasingly bored so start indulging once again.

Rather die happy a few years early than survive a bit longer on some miserable feckin diet

For us devotees of the Old Testament, the week starts on Sunday. That's why the Jews take Saturday off.

My "dryathlon" will consist of laying off the brandy and port for a while

I am aware of Baggy's best mate and his plan to take him on the "29th revisited". It makes me shudder. Baggy, you're a better man than I Gunga Din. :salut:

I can just about manage that once a year.
The secret my friend is that I am a very modest drinker in the first place. I'm not constantly topping up therefore a dry month whilst not a scary thought is not a consideration for me.

I very much meet the recommendations for having several dry days a week, I occasionally would have a dry couple of weeks for no other reason than I can't be bothered.

Take my advice children, a sober home is a happy home, though I an personally seldom happy but carry happiness where er I go. It's a burden I carry.
