It was cr@p as was most of his TV work.
His books were brilliant (most of them - some cr@p in there too)
His war memoires, a trilogy in 6 (or was it 7?) parts is absolutely fascinating, funny, yet heart breaking in a way, and what he went through towards the end of the war goes a long way to explaining his character - tragic but funny.
Puckoon is a legend in its own lunchtime - an absloute classic and should be on the reading list for every GCSE student
If you've got access to DAB radio the Goon Shows are broadcast on Radio 4plus. Still as fresh as ever and easily 30 years ahead of it's time. Don't think Milligan was ever the same after that - he put everything into those. Almost cost him his life in the end.
Volunteer at an animal sanctuary; it will fill you with joy , despair, but most of all love, unconditional love of the animals.
